To go to bed at 830?

My baby still wakes three times in the night so I don’t get to sleep through and I often struggle to nod back off. Then am up at 6, so am tired.

DH has mentioned that I go very early. Don’t think it was meant critically but it has got me wondering if I do. Or if everyone with babies goes at this time just to get some decent sleep!

Go to bed when you are tired, you don't need to ask anyone else what they do Smile

Stormyequine · 26/06/2021 21:41

My baby is a teenager and I'm still often in bed by 9. Go to bed at a time that works for you. Surely that is one of the joys of being an adult, you can go to bed as early, or as late as you like

ClairKingston · 26/06/2021 21:41

My neighbours who live in the house opposite mine have a child of around 1 year old and they go to bed at 9.30pm exactly every night. All the lights go out and I assume they are getting as much sleep as they can before the little one probably wakes very early. Makes perfect sense to me. It is awful to feel weary at the crack of dawn and you have to get up to a wide awake child. Been there and done that.

ApplesandBananas21 · 26/06/2021 21:42

I used to go at 19:30 in the baby stage 😂

KitKatKit · 26/06/2021 21:43

I have a 9 month old who still wakes repeatedly throughout the night, most nights I'm upstairs by 8.30pm.... do what you need to do in order to feel rested.

PaperMonster · 26/06/2021 21:45

My OH is asleep for 9!! We all go up for about 8 but me and daughter chill til about 10ish when we go to sleep. OH is up at 4.

snotaproblem · 26/06/2021 21:48

Yes I was always asleep by 9 during the baby days

MyShoelaceIsUndone · 26/06/2021 21:49

I used to try and stay awake until 10 but Jesus a baby who doesn’t yet sleep through is so tiring and I gave up and would watch tv in bed from 8 and drift off. I found a few hours sleep before baby wakes to feed then after before next feed helped me. When baby was a little older I increased the first night feed (at 11pm) and had a dimmed light and no noise during the feed and she eventually slept through a little longer then this increased to almost all night. Don’t despair

Go to bed when you need to.
My kids are teens now, but I go to bed at 10pm every night and have a read. I love getting into bed.

theheartofthematter · 26/06/2021 21:51

I love an early night. Do what you want to keep yourself sane! Or perhaps if your OH wants an evening with you suggest he gets up through the night the night before so you are not so tired!

MonkeyBeard · 26/06/2021 21:52

At that stage I went to bed when the baby did. I was pissed off if it was after 7:30!

Mumofboys1 · 26/06/2021 22:11

We used to go to bed straight after the kids had, there wasn’t another way for it to work for us! So just went with it! 🤣

PuppyMonkey · 26/06/2021 22:22

Has your DH not noticed you have a baby who wakes three times in the night and this might make a person want an early night?

Howshouldibehave · 26/06/2021 22:27

DH has mentioned that I go very early

What time does he go to bed/wake up compared to you? How many of the night wakings does he do?

Butterfly44 · 26/06/2021 23:15

This is why you're on maternity leave. It's not like before where times were set. Ask DH is he notices the baby wakes at night 😂

spacegirl86 · 27/06/2021 04:06

I go to bed with the baby, which unfortunately for us is around 10/11. I would kill for 8.30 and if I was able to I probably would on most nights. As it is I will just keep on going with barely any sleep and sleepwalking through the day...

Having said that I miss grown up evening time so I might not go up straight away. However, I definitely wouldn't judge either way.

Leshan · 27/06/2021 04:23

Does he ever do his share?

PedrosPony · 27/06/2021 04:25

My 11 year old put me to bed at 8.30 Friday night 😂

FiveGs · 27/06/2021 04:29

I go to bed between 8.45pm-9pm read for 30 minutes, then lights out. I have no kids Grin.

I have to leave for work at 7.30am though so figure I'd rather aim for a good night's sleep (with varying degrees of success). I think, if you're tired, go to bed when you like.

Strokethefurrywall · 27/06/2021 04:29

I go to bed at 8.30 and my kids are 9 & 7. In fairness I’m up to work out before 5am but sometimes I just use that as an excuse…

Amdone123 · 27/06/2021 04:37

I go to bed at about 7pm. I'm asleep by 9 at the latest. I wake and get up about 4am or 5.
When my son was a toddler, he used to tuck me in bed. It was a family joke !!

ivfgottwins · 27/06/2021 04:59

I have 5 months old twins and back at work full time....last night I was asleep for 8pm - take the sleep when you can get it!

peonyrose87 · 27/06/2021 05:04

My baby is almost 5 months old and until she was four months I went to bed when she did. Now I maybe last until 9pm at the latest! Sleep is valuable, take what you can get!

3Britnee · 27/06/2021 07:27

How much baby care does your DH do, to be complaining about how early you go to sleep? Imo he doesn't get an opinion until he does full 50/50 care, including all night care.

3Britnee · 27/06/2021 07:28

Or has done 100% for a month.
