Do you think my husbands toe needs checking out?

I'll attach the photo below this post just in case anyone doesn't want to see!

My husband had an ingrown toenail, he kept trying to sort it out himself, I told him to cut a V in the middle with nail clippers etc, he didn't listen. This has been going on about 5 months anyway, picture below. It's hot to touch and painful.

Both of my son's toes looked like that, and they were very infected. He had antibiotics and then the surgery. He said recovery from the surgery was less painful than the ingrown toenails. Your husband should ask about it.

I would soak that in hot water and have a poke and see if anything came out. I am bit a medial professional

As someone who suffered with this get a doc that specialises in removing corner root in toe. Then he wont suffer again. I repeatedly had infections after infections for 2 yeards while trying to have a podiatrist treat it. No good. The doc successfully removed root. Rested for a week and no trouble for last 20 yrs. My son suffered it and i acted immediately by getting a doc to remove root. No trouble since. Best of luck. Its horrible pain to suffer with

Get that toe to the Doctors . I lost my big toe because the infection went down into the bone . It was nasty .

Go to a podiatrist tomorrow. GPs won’t do anything. Also don’t let them burn the nail bed at the side to prevent it regrowing. It can sometimes cause the nail to get thicker instead of longer.

They dont burn the nail. The root is cut. My nail is still perfectly intact. It is not a GP but a doc at a specialist clinic that does procedure. Its 10 min or less doing.

Definitely go to the doctor! My ex once ended up seriously ill through an infected toe-nail.

Totally off the subject. Your DH has very young looking feet

edie89 · 24/06/2021 12:55

@championthewonderhorse70 lol he's only 30 I'd be worried if he didn't!

Thanks everyone. Dr has given antibiotics and he's been referred to podiatrist.
