Repairing a swimsuit

shouldistop · 23/06/2021 17:56

I have a swimsuit that actually looks good on me. I've bought a few of the same one but the underwire keeps coming out Sad it must be a fault but I really love the swimsuit.
Can anyone give me any advice on how to repair it? Maybe fabric glue?

Sew it back in and put some glue over the top?

Take it to your local dry cleaner if you don’t want to do it yourself.

The fabric where it's poking out is too thick for me to stitch through. It's happened to 3 of them now Sad I'll maybe pay to get all 3 done professionally then hopefully it will last.

Three times is either a flaw with the product or the back size is too big for you.

You really should contact the manufacturer, you must have spent quite a bit on their faulty but fab goods by now.

IME the best fix for stabby under wires is to sew a short length of strong fabric tape over the hole. 6mm is usually the right width, it’s usually possible to match the colour pretty well if you take the costume with you to a haberdashery. The secret is a curved needle and a thimble.

Oh it's possible the back size is too big. I'm breastfeeding just now so a bit out of whack with my sizing. I bought both sizes and thought the bigger back size made me look less fat Grin

It took me an embarrassingly long time to connect being poked by escaping under wiring with wearing too loose a band size. I lost so many bras that way Grin

shouldistop · 23/06/2021 19:39

I never would have thought it was that. I wonder why that happens. It's annoying because the one that's the correct back size caused a bit of a bulge Sad

The bulge could be because the cup size is too small. If the sizing is back size- cup size you could try the smaller back size with a bigger cup size.

shouldistop · 23/06/2021 19:51

That's possible! It's probably caused by fat though Grin
Hopefully more swimming will help!

Can you post a link to the swimsuit online? I want to see a swimsuit that is worth this much fuss.

MaskingForIt · 23/06/2021 20:21

And I mean that in a nice way, because I mostly rock the “beached whale” vibe in mine.

aggathapanthus · 23/06/2021 20:23

Do this every few years, post mastectomy. Use upholstery needles.

It's this one, also available on bra Stop website. I've got a couple of colours. Bra size 34H (I think) size 12 ish apple shape and my stomach muscles have never recovered properly since ds2 was born 6 months ago so have a flabby tum.

Aww, that’s lovely. I didn’t know Bravissimo did swimsuits, I might upgrade from my supermarket ones! Thanks.

myBumJuiceSmellsLikeRoses · 24/06/2021 09:52

It's almost certainly wrong sizing causing this.
It's the same with normal bras.
If the wire pokes through, you're wearing the wrong size.
