The IT department in my job are just very incompetent. I requested lots of things which never get done. Most recently I made a request in February to give me access to a file I need. They’ve ignored my request. I contacted my manager who emailed them and was told they’ll look into it. I’ve been asking for updates still no response.

I had enough this morning as my job is so much harder as I have to do everything from scratch as they haven’t given me access (I should have been given but mistake on their end). I emailed the person whose in charge and CC’d in the top manager. I feel guilty that ive done something wrong and feeling anxious incase I get told off but I was sick of my requests and emails being ignored. Ive waited so long. I’m feeling really anxious about even checking my mail. I’ve got a horrible sinking feeling that I’ve done wrong. Anyone got advice? How should I respond if I get told off?

OP it's their own fault for not responding to previous requests. You have done nothing wrong. This is the natural consequence of their refusal to engage.

Honestly I don’t think you should be feeling guilty about this at all - if your email is a bit unprofessional in anyway (Whiny) then maybe apologise for that. But if there is something in a workplace that isn’t working as a manager I would want to know in order to resolve it. I would think other managers would feel the same.

Also I think that all workers should regularly seek feedback from their customers internally or externally otherwise how do you know where you need to improve. You were just giving honest feedback - it might not always be pretty but often stops similar issues happening in future. It isn’t like you didn’t try a couple of times too.
