Just that really?! Here's my slightly long winded might-be-verrucas back story - 34 weeks pregnant and these two round lumps with holes in the middle appeared a couple of weeks ago (one on each foot).
Been trying to get in touch with the GP about it (just to confirm whether they are or not, so I can carry on walking round barefoot if not!) but they wouldn't see me face to face and put me on to a video consultation service.
I've just had this consult earlier this evening where the doctor has told me i'll have to reconsider a water birth, and keep an eye on whether they spread to the genitals (?!) as that could pass the virus to my baby?! Is this true?! I'd already looked online and thought it was different types of the HPV virus which caused verrucas and genital warts but obviously I'm not a doctor so feeling pretty rattled about this!!

It took 10 days to even get through to my GP surgery on the phone the first time around so I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance/personal experience from you all while I try to get another doctor's advice on this as it really has made me concerned!

(Not to mention, I've been working from home and myself and DH haven't stayed visited anywhere away from home overnight since last summer so I'm a little perplexed as to where I even could have caught these from!)

I'm not sure those are verrucas. Have you exfoliated them? Might just need a good foot scrub and they'll be gone - just a bit of dry skin?

StapMe · 22/06/2021 21:01

Can't tell if they are verrucas from pictures. I had a very persistent one and was worried about passing it on. Plasters didn't stay on, so I painted it with nail varnish every morning to sort of seal it. Must have worked because no one caught it from me. Eventually shifted it with some super strong stuff from local pharmacy. Salactol I think.

Thanks for responding! Have tried exfoliating but they're sort of hard so it didn't do much - have started putting duct tape on them now as a treatment in case they are verrucas. They're in the same spot on both feet though so I did wonder if it could just be calluses from a new pressure point from the extra weight of being pregnant.

Pharmacist are seeing people face to face still perhaps speak to one of those

You dont even need a verruca sock at swimming pools anymore they consider them such a non issue

Yes sorry the pics aren't great but it was quite hard to contort myself into a position to take them 😅 good shout on the nail polish thank you, will bear that in mind!

Don't look like verrucas to me just looks like dry skin

Theunamedcat · 22/06/2021 21:08

To me it just looks like something has rubbed your foot go to sporners corner to see some real verrucas

But don't if you have a sensitive stomach

SoSadAboutMyDad · 22/06/2021 21:09

I’m an expert at verrucas as my daughter has 20 Confused. The best way to tell is to close your eyes and gently stroke it. If you feel a hard lump in the middle it is one.

Versaillaise · 22/06/2021 21:09

They might be corns

An0n0n0n · 22/06/2021 21:10

First one definitely looks like a veruca to me. It looks like a bit of yellow presssure ring around it. Duct tape and keep wearing a sock amd it will be gone in no time. Try not to get it wet and keep same piece on as long as possible

SoSadAboutMyDad · 22/06/2021 21:10

And I’d echo that they don’t look like verrucas at all

linerforlife · 22/06/2021 21:12

I've zoomed in and yes they do look like they're verrucas. Go to a chiropodist to get them sorted.

topwings · 22/06/2021 21:12

I don't think they are veruccas, looks more like dry skin.

When you press on veruccas, you will feel a hard little nub; it doesn't look there is anything there.

RunAndTellAllOfTheAngels · 22/06/2021 21:18

Hard to tell from the pic but if they are (I would do this even if they aren't as no harm done) apply apple cider vinegar to them with a cotton bud for 5 mins each night and they will be gone in no time.

peachyandkeen · 22/06/2021 21:27

Look like verrucas to me

suspiria777 · 22/06/2021 21:29

hundred percent they are corns. a podiatrist will sort you right out.

TheBooper · 22/06/2021 21:30

Yeah I think they are verrucas. I got them on both of my pregnancies! Best to just make an appt with a podiatrist I think and get them properly sorted. Don't do what I did and leave them to grow into stubborn monsters!

Mankyfruitbowl · 22/06/2021 21:33

I think you should go to a podiatrist to get them checked out. I had something very similar that I was convinced was a verruca but it turned out to be a corn.

SwanShaped · 22/06/2021 21:35

I think they’re verrucas. Can you see any tiny black dots in them? And do the lines of your footprint sort of distort around them? I thought the thing with giving birth and babies was to do with genital herpes virus.

Mankyfruitbowl · 22/06/2021 21:36

Cross posted with @suspiria777 Smile

Hope it's a corn as they're easily treated. I felt like I was walking on air after my podiatrist appointment (though to be fair I wasn't pregnant at the time!)

ClareBlue · 22/06/2021 22:10

Getting those picks whilst heavily pregnant is some feat (or feet)Grin

Phoenix76 · 22/06/2021 22:24

They don’t look like verrucas to me. Having been a sufferer for years (verruca free for years now too) and now dealing with dds verrucas they don’t look like any I’ve ever seen (including my own google research 😆). I found that they’re usually sore too and our gp said they have black dots in them. If you’re really worried it’s worth asking a pharmacist to take a look but they look more like pressure sores. This probably hasn’t helped as we seem to have a split in opinions, always worth seeking actual advice from someone qualified on anything medical. With regards to worrying about your baby, I agree with pp, that’s genital that medical staff are concerned about and even then they know what to do to mitigate risk.

H3yth3r32020 · 23/06/2021 10:07

Thanks all for the advice! Managed by some miracle to get hold of my GP surgery first thing and the doctor has called me and agreed that verrucas have nothing to do with genital warts and that there's no risk to me or baby thank goodness! Will take everyone's advice and see what the pharmacist has to say to start off with and see how I get on. Thanks again!
