They are now saying 210 cases confirmed, but estimating that is only a fran=ction of the cases out there, Lots of different food brands too, all made in the same factory.

Sorry, posted in AIBU in error, and a terrible typo. Sorry.

Thank you for this OP. How heartbreaking, those poor cats (and families)Sad.
I've just checked the brands being recalled and we don't use any of those for our cat but being made aware is really helpful - thank you again.

edenhills · 22/06/2021 08:46

Thanks I hadn't heard about this recall, you'd think there would be more on the national news?

Peccary · 22/06/2021 08:51

It's been handled very badly. I happened to see a post on social media, turns out we had a bag of the recalled stuff (unopened thankfully)
The online retailer we got it from took almost a week to email customers about the recall after it was in the news.

SerendipitySunshine · 22/06/2021 09:17

I just can't believe we aren't hearing more about this. I have booked my cats in for a blood test just to be on the safe side.

I agree this has not been well publicised but it is quite a stretch to say it is lots of different brands. Your exaggeration could cause unnecessary concern.

SerendipitySunshine · 22/06/2021 09:23

I know - so many of us are cat lovers and these are very widely fed brands so I'd have hoped to have heard about this sooner (and thrown the stuff away and not fed it to my poor cats). Some of these cats died three weeks ago :(

Sorry if I worded it badly @Aprilx - it's just that it's not just from one shop - AVA is pets at home's own brand, and very popular, the sainsbury's foods are also affected, and another premium one. Sorry .

There's a FB group about this, who have been trying to publicise before it hit any kind of news media (before it was admitted it was probably the food too).

It seems to be linked to a particular factory. FaceBook group here, with the factory code and some general information.

It's so sad. I first heard about it on here a couple of weeeks ago. Poor, poor cats and their families.

That's awful, thanks for sharing

SerendipitySunshine · 22/06/2021 09:31

Thanks so much @Herja - I'll head over there and have a look.

Wilkinsons seem to have recalled some of their ownbrand foods too.

SerendipitySunshine · 22/06/2021 09:57

Yes, I'd heard that, and others potentially made in the same factory too.

That facebook group is really useful - thanks for the tip.
