Partners cough driving me mad

Partner had a slight cough on Friday but he had a covid test and it was negative. Today, he's woken up and it's worse and he's also got a cold. Hes coughing constantly now and it's driving me mad! I also feel awful because he can't help it bur he's also complaining that he feels unwell so he can't do the slightest thing. I asked him earlier if he'd get baby changed for his bath and he told me that he's tired and feels unwell. I know I'm probably Bu though

Second covid test?

If he is ill, he's ill. Let him rest and get better.
Why are you telling him to care for the baby? Do you want the baby to become unwell as well? Hmm

She never told him to care for the baby! She asked him to get the baby ready for their bath ffs.

I'll bet if OP was feeling rough, she wouldn't be able to neglect all duties.

I hope he's not doing 'the shuffle' in his dressing gown of doom.

You can feel unwell and still do the minimum of tasks.

Definitely another covid test.

TheRealMrsMorningstar · 20/06/2021 21:10

I think I would encourage him to take a second test? Was it a PCR test or lateral flow (with symptoms it should be a PCR). If he is unwell then he should rest. (I do get the annoyance with coughs - it is guaranteed to give me rage along with heavy breathing and chewing sounds).

comedycentral · 20/06/2021 21:10

Are you sure it's not covid. One of my family members has been testing for 4 days as her family have covid, felt ill all week, lots of tests, all negative and today it's positive.

Darbs76 · 20/06/2021 21:11

Definitely 2nd test

Lweji · 20/06/2021 21:15

I'm sure he can do some things.
I'd rather not have anyone coughing and ill near a baby (and changing clothes is caring for the baby).

But having had a horrible cough that lasted for weeks, I don't underestimate how tired someone can get.

mynameiscalypso · 20/06/2021 21:20

I wondered for a minute whether I'd written this post. DH is currently coughing every 30 seconds. He's got antibiotics and steroids but he delayed so long in going to the doctor that they're not really doing the job now. At one point last week I had him coughing all night on one side of me and DS coughing through the baby monitor all night. This morning he woke DS up with his coughing at 5.30am. Of course, I had to get up with DS as DH needed to go back to sleep.

randomkey123 · 20/06/2021 21:20

Sounds like a terminal case of man flu on your hands OP.

Make him isolate so at least you don't have to endure his misery.

EKGEMS · 20/06/2021 21:22

He needs to push fluids, consider a cough suppressant if a dry cough if not then an expectorant cough medication, tea with honey, run a humidifier and definitely a second test.

Aquamarine1029 · 20/06/2021 21:22

He needs another test.

Sometimeswinning · 20/06/2021 21:45

Second test?? He's got a cough and cold. As for posters giving advice on pushing fluids 🤦‍♀️
