Gross or not?

Picked up small dead bird in garden with dog poo bag. Didn’t touch dead bird with hands. Put in outside bin.

Made snack without washing hands.

Gross or not? Help settle an argument please!

Gross, I know that bare skin didn't touch the bird but I still would have washed hands after.

VenusStarr · 20/06/2021 16:28

Gross 🤮

EKGEMS · 20/06/2021 16:29

That is very unhygienic. You really should've washed your hands!

shouldistop · 20/06/2021 16:29

Gross

DogsSausages · 20/06/2021 16:30

Yeah its gross, even if you picked something up using a bag you could have still touched a dirty bin and door handle. You should always wash your hands before preparing and eating food.

doorornottodoor · 20/06/2021 16:30

It wasn’t me, it was my husband but he thinks I’m being overly critical.

Personally I always wash my hands before touching food so I'd be miffed if someone handed me food they'd prepared without washing their hands. However you won't be likely to have dead bird germs on your hands when you didn't touch it. You might have bin handle germs though Grin

Haudyourwheesht · 20/06/2021 16:32

What if it had been rubber gloves instead of a dog poo bag?

I'd probably have washed my hands too, because it's Envy, but don't think it's unhygienic if there was no contact between bird and skin.

doorornottodoor · 20/06/2021 16:33

There were flies on the bird which made me 🤢

Kanaloa · 20/06/2021 16:34

Yeah gross. I would wash my hands before making food even if I hadn’t just been moving a dead animal. Although if it was just his sandwich then I guess it’s his risk.

Oldraver · 20/06/2021 16:35

I suppose technically if he didnt touch the bird.....I would find it maky though

FlowerArranger · 20/06/2021 16:38

Never mind the bird, but it should be automatic to wash hands after touching the dustbin, or before touching any food.

DogsSausages · 20/06/2021 16:40

Where there's flies there could also be maggot eggs, yuk. I would chuck out the food he touched too.

mrsbyers · 20/06/2021 16:41

Gross as the dog bags usually smell anyway

TSSDNCOP · 20/06/2021 16:50

Not.

TSSDNCOP · 20/06/2021 16:51

Hold on, just read part about hands. Vote changed.

Pengwyn · 20/06/2021 16:52

Very, very gross

CustardySergeant · 20/06/2021 17:20

I have never prepared or touched food without first washing my hands, so the dead bird would have been irrelevant. It's automatic to me.

Hoppinggreen · 20/06/2021 17:22

You should always wash your hands before preparing food, whether you have disposed of a dead bird or not

Bumzoo · 20/06/2021 17:22

I wouldn't touch a bin and not wash my hands. Yuck.

Foobydoo · 20/06/2021 17:22

Gross even without the dead bird.
Always wash hands before preparing food.
Always wash hand when you come in from outside.

BlankTimes · 20/06/2021 17:23

Always wash your hands before preparing food, irrespective of what you've done previously.

Chikapu · 20/06/2021 17:24

Hands should be washed before preparing food no matter what you've been touching.

MK19590 · 20/06/2021 17:25

Oh that's just horrible

Aquamarine1029 · 20/06/2021 17:27

You wash your hands before preparing food no matter what you've been up to. Your husband is disgusting.
