To ask how much bio identical HRT prescriptions cost please?

I'm really sick of my menopause symptoms and just want to feel like me again. Sick of feeling down, low energy, mood swings. Sick of being fat but I know it won't help that!

I've read great things about bio identical hormones and I have almost made an appointment. I don't mind going private, but I need to know how much it is monthly before I commit to the private appointment.

I may be missing something, but the NHS will prescribe body identical HRT.

Most menopause doctors will prescribe 'body-identical' rather than 'bio-identical' HRT: often oestrogen gel made from synethsised yams. It is charged at the usual NHS prescription charge, though if you need two items, as most women with a uterus will (oestrogen and progesterone) you will pay for two prescriptions.

Bio-identical HRT is not really recommended by most mainstream doctors. Louise Newson's site is a good source of information and explains what 'body-identical' HRT is and why it is safe. She is a GP and menopause specialist and highly regarded.
