Skinny teenage boy and body shaming?

Took my 16 year old son to a clothing store to buy his first suit for work. The assistant was very helpful but kept saying my son was thin and skinny. I suppose in hindsight calling a brand of suits skinny fitting doesn’t help. My son knows he is skinny and will not wear shorts etc because of it.

I would not dream of telling a bigger teenager that they were fat. And I would certainly not body shame a girl but it seems ok for a boy to be made to feel self conscious.

So is it ok to tell someone they are skinny?

That's awful.

I'm still smarting from comments made about my teenage body by various 'fitters'.

Nothing wrong with being skinny, it's fairly common in teenage boys.

YANBU OP, I understand Skinny Fit clothing but skinny, like fat, shouldn't be used.
