To ask if I’m likely to escape paying this parking fine?

Went shopping today and parked in a multistorey in the shopping centre. Top floor, and it was raining hard. Purchased my three hour ticket and stuck it to the driver’s window as I usually fo.
Returned in a couple of hours to find a penalty notice on my windscreen; the ticket hadn't stuck properly to the widow, undoubtedly due to rain/condensation, and was on the floor of my car.
I understand that I had failed to display, though I had paid.
Am I likely to be let off when I appeal?

Car park run by council.

It depends on them when they read your appeal

Send photos of your ticket - ideally taken when you got back and showing it on the floor

I had a pay and display ticket blow off dashboard when I closed door and got a ticket - also council car park. I just sent them a photo of the ticket that clearly had date time and my reg number on it and they cancelled the ticket.

Wardens in our area do check for "fallen" tickets, but if the ticket is not visible, then they will issue a ticket. Husband was a local warden.....If you explain to the council and offer evidence that you did pay, they'll likely let you off.

Oh God, appeal, with evidence. I have got off several parking fines on far less compelling grounds!

Keepingitreal14 · 18/06/2021 22:09

We appealed one on the basis it had fallen out of the window and they cancelled it.

SquirtleSquad · 18/06/2021 22:09

Appeal it, add a screenshot of your bank statement if you paid by card too!

saveforthat · 18/06/2021 22:10

Yes I have done exactly the same and my appeal was successful.

RedthroatedCaracara · 18/06/2021 22:10

It really depends on how shitty your council is. I had the same thing happen to me, I appealed and they still insisted I paid. Tossers.

angelopal · 18/06/2021 22:11

No harm in appealing. I got a ticket as I has entered the wrong location code on the parking app. Was one street away. Appealed with the evidence that I had paid but for the wrong location. They cancelled the ticket. It was the council it was through.

Blossomtoes · 18/06/2021 22:15

Appeal with a picture of the ticket. I ended up going to court over a parking ticket once. I won, much to the disgust of the warden who’d ticketed me.

OnlyToWin · 18/06/2021 22:15

Exact same thing happened to me. I posted the dated ticket to them with a letter (it was years ago!) and they upheld the fine as I had “failed to display the ticket” even though it was obvious I had bought one and wasn’t my fault it had fallen off. Now I always leave on my dashboard.

So, worth a try OP but they can be really strict!

Pottedpalm · 18/06/2021 22:23

Thanks all, I will appeal by email and attach photo of the ticket. I paid cash. The ticket wasn't visible from outside as it fell between the door and the seat. Sounds like I have a fair chance of reprieve!
