To ask if you have an etsy shop?

And if so does it make you much money? What do you sell and do you find you get a lot of your orders through etsy? I'm thinking of starting a side business but wondering how profitable it can really be.

I’ve heard the fees can be quite a lot

I've heard the same but not got a shop myself. Worth checking the costs snd how much you'd need to sell to cover costs and make a profit

I've made £92 this week, and fees, which is their cut plus insertion fees was £10.

Yes, make around £1000 a month, more in the run up to xmas, however, I have a lot of products, so fees & stock costs are a fair amount, not to mention the time I spend on it too, taking pictures, writing descriptions, answering messages etc. I do it along side another business, so it doesn't seem too much hassle during my working day, I couldn't do it as a completely separate sideline though

The fees are less than eBay. I sell vintage and antiques on both platforms. My experience is that I get fewer sales on Etsy, but Etsy buyers want quality and are prepared to pay for it, so prices are higher. There are fewer time wasters too. Plus the prices are fixed so there is none of that making a ridiculously low offer for something. My advice would be to have a shop on both and maximise your virtual footfall. Mind you, it does mean that if you are selling lots of one offs, as I do, you have to be on the ball with deleting items when they have sold in the other shop!
