I am SO stressed about our wedding

Booked pre covid for Dec 2020 and rescheduled for Dec 2021.

Every headline seems to be about lockdown coming back in the winter and I am panicking. We are fully paid up and did so before all this happened. Insurance doesn't cover Covid.

We can't postpone again and would be happy with 15, ideally 30 but I'd be recasted if we were back in a full lockdown.

Am I mad to think it will go ahead?!

Not at all. The link between cases and hospitalisations/deaths is in the process of being broken. Also it felt like the original strain was seasonal but evidently this one is doing well in summer so winter isn’t necessarily more dangerous now. I’d be pretty confident!

Sorry should also say we can't really afford to walk away and lose all the money either.

I don't think the modelling predicts a big wave in the winter.

It predicts a big wave July / August because we've massively reduced restrictions despite a much more contagious variant, and are planning on ending them entirely just before fully vaccinating everyone. (I have no idea why we're doing this.)

Everyone actually will be vaccinated next winter, & the most vulnerable will have had a booster. Much more likely to be fine than an August wedding tbh.

I think your wedding will be absolutely fine OP. I’m 23 and had my Pfizer jab today, I will have my second early august. 18 year olds will be booking their first in for next week already. Booster jabs will be out by September. Try not to stress, I know it’s hard, I have my wedding booked for September so I’m also crossing my fingers but the jabs are working and breaking the link between sickness and hospitalisation. People will get Covid but we will be able to live with it much like the flu.
