Long story short I'm self employed housekeeper. New client on Monday has passed comment on something and it's really made me feel like I'm being spied on!

They've complained about me using a specific thing for example "don't use those blue cloths on the TV stand use the pink" or "don't use the green mop use the yellow" gives you an idea.

This is fine however, they weren't home, nobody was there so now I'm like how on earth did they know I did X when they weren't there to see, undisclosed camera. It's nothing bad I've done it's literally a certain way I've done something they want it done their way.

Really not sure how to feel. AIBU to not return?

Self employed cleaner here. I would quit and tell them why... There are cameras in at least 2 of my customer's homes but I know they are there... Well when I first worked Home Alone singing I didn't... Blush

It's up to you. I'm a pet carer and some clients have cameras in their homes. I just do the job and try to ignore them. It's their home I guess.

I'd find that creepy. I wouldn't want to go back.

BlatantlyNameChanged · 18/06/2021 16:33

Disclosed camera are perfectly acceptable and I wouldn't have a problem with working in a home that has cameras.

Undisclosed camera would be a problem for me, not because I would do anything wrong but because I'd be wondering where else they have undisclosed cameras and why they're using them to spy on me.

Pumpkink · 18/06/2021 16:43

Yeah it's the fact it's undisclosed, I have no issues with cameras I mean they're part of our daily lives after all but every house I've worked in that has a camera always discloses where they are.

Undisclosed camera is NOT ON. How would they feel...?

And potentially illegal perhaps? I have to display a notice as I use CCTV in my membership space.

I wouldn’t go back and I would tell them why. I’d also point out that the law covering cameras at work is on your side, not theirs.
