Changing mats that last

Posting on AIBU for traffic. I'm really overthinking buying a changing mat.

It doesn't need to fit a changing table as prefer to change on floor or on regular table.

I'm debating whether I need a wedge changing mat and whether I need covers and liners. I really don't want one that splits or tears. has to be durable.

Please send your recommendations.

I use 3 of these in rotation with a towel on top.

Mamas and papas

I’ve had one from mamas and papas for about 4 years now, still going!

Never used a changing mat.
Clean hand towel on the floor for every change.
I always preferred to change my babies on the floor.
Much safer.
Wriggle time without a nappy,
My babies grew through that stage without a changing table or a special ( plastic) mat.

I bought a basic one 5.5 years ago and it’s just starting to fall apart after 2 kids. I’d not bother spending out on a fancy one. This one was about £7 I think, from mothercare.

we always used towels.

My Mamas and Papas mats lasted 8 years!

Mamas and papas are great. The covers become a pain over time with the amount of times they need washed.
I had a matalan one that tore.

I used the Cuddle Co comfi-change memory foam wedge and its lasted really well. Bought it for downstairs floor changing but also bought a second one to replace the split plastic one upstairs when DD was about 5 months. Its not wipe clean but when she was small I put a muslin over the bottom half in case of any poop escapes and the cover it comes with washes well. Its never cold as the cover is bamboo and nice and soft.

Basic plastic one has lasted 8 years. Had one with covers and it was a pain as son weed on it ever single time.
Can wipe wee or poo off a plastic one

I have one secondhand from a friend so not sure where it's from, but it's foam covered in plastic and I use it on the floor. Just wipes clean. Works really well.

My matalan one is still going strong!
