AIBU to be a nosy neighbour

My neighbours are a bit strange. They seem fairly normal to the untrained eye but they are odd. The man doesn’t work but he seems to collect junk. He goes off out in his van and returns with more strange items like you’d see at the tip. Nothing I can even describe. Random odds and ends. I thought maybe he was an artist but no “art” is ever removed or collected. There are a lot of mechanical noises coming from the house though. I often wonder what on earth they’re doing in there. The woman goes to work part time.
They have their curtains permanently drawn so you can never see in. I really want to know what their deal is. I know that’s a little weird in itself but they intrigue me. He was very evasive when we talked about what he does for a living. I kind of want to follow him when he goes out! Im obviously bored but I do like knowledge- especially knowledge that isn’t obvious or I’m not meant to know.

Ooooh follow him and report back!

girlsallowed21 · 18/06/2021 13:26

He could be one one of those people who uses scrap materials to create upcycle furniture??? Who knows!
My instinct would be to steer clear and mind my business.
But if they do reveal more details , let us know if you find out 😜😜

YellowFish12 · 18/06/2021 13:28

I’d want to know too!

1vandal2 · 18/06/2021 13:33

I vote hoarders

luckylavender · 18/06/2021 13:34

How do you know this? You seem a little over invested

UniBallEye · 18/06/2021 13:38

I'm so very very glad I do not have neighbours, especially ones like you OP - you sound like my mother! She monitors all the houses on her street and spends her life judging..

You sound insufferable Op. Just mind your own business

Sonofabiscuit · 18/06/2021 14:28

OP just go next door and ask what they are up to .
.problem solved

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/06/2021 14:31

you sound creepy as hell.
mind your own business

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/06/2021 14:35
Hmm
KarlUrbansWife · 18/06/2021 14:35

He's probably well aware of how desperate you are to know his business, and that's why he gives nothing away Grin I'd do exactly the same if you were my neighbour. I'm perfectly sociable and neighbourly but I can't bear neighbours who want to know all the details.

Gothichouse40 · 18/06/2021 14:40

Again, this is why I have nothing to do with neighbours. Im polite but mind my own business. What is it that on,here more than a few are obsessed with what neighbours are doing? Is this what Lockdown has done to people?

OrangeRug · 18/06/2021 14:43

I'd be interested too although I wouldn't follow him - it would be super awkward if he realised!

SirenSays · 18/06/2021 14:44

Oh god not another curtain twitcher, keep your beak out. If they wanted you to know their private business they'd share.

I have one like this on my street. Constantly craning his neck trying to see me. It's creepy, he turns around so fast when I look, he's as subtle as a grenade. You prying busybodies really aren't as sneaky as you think.

Somanysocks · 18/06/2021 14:49

Haha, my new neighbours confessed to trying to guess what I did for a living because of the hours of my coming and going (which was nothing to do with my work).

Maybe they're doing Money for Nothing.

Crankley · 18/06/2021 15:05

You're a curtain twitching busy body. Mind your own bloody business and get a life.

DogsSausages · 18/06/2021 15:12

Is this a joke! you think it's okay to stalk your neighbour to see where he goes but you think they are the ones who are a bit strange, get a grip.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 18/06/2021 15:18

Wow! Have people lost the ability to spot lighthearted humor when they see it?

Cockadoodles · 18/06/2021 16:00

The man also is quite funny to watch. He likes to do a bit of a job and then flits to something else. One min he will be mowing the lawn then half way through the mowing lawn mower will be abandoned and he’ll be up a ladder, then he will be cleaning the car etc etc

I’m more intrigued by him than her to be honest and no he is not remotely sexy or good looking!

This!

but I do like knowledge- especially knowledge that isn’t obvious or I’m not meant to know

A gossip as well as a busybody, delightful. I'm not surprised they avoid you tbh!

memberofthewedding · 18/06/2021 16:29

My NDNs are nosy oiks too! If they ask what Im doing I tell them that I dont mind them asking impertinent personal questions so long as they dont mind my not answering them!

Mrs busybody asked me my name, surname and title without ever telling me what her name was! I told her my first name was for my friends, not for random strangers, and she could address me as DR XXX.

I got the deeds of their house from the land registry and not only do I know their full names but who their mortgage is with, when they bought their house, how much they paid and a lot more besides.

DogsSausages · 18/06/2021 16:44

member, why do you want that info about your neighbours,, what's the point.

DynamoKev · 18/06/2021 16:56
