It's my DM's birthday today (could be pure coincidence) and she's received a box of these in the post.
She has no idea what they are or who or where they're from.
Any ideas??

I've no idea but I'm following to find out!

badger2005 · 17/06/2021 11:24

are they tealight holders?

SleepingStandingUp · 17/06/2021 11:25

How big are they? Do they open?

NakedNugget · 17/06/2021 11:25

Weird

Mini cages for mini bugs (I've no idea)

ValerieMorghulis · 17/06/2021 11:26

Is it something to hang in the garden for birds? I’m intrigued!

Terrazzo · 17/06/2021 11:27

Looks like some old rusty fishing equipment (I know nothing about fishing but like a crab catcher or something?) bizarre!

66babe · 17/06/2021 11:28

Was there no leaflet or label ? No ID from the sender ?

Ballbagisnotmyname · 17/06/2021 11:29

They look like fishing swim feeders

Bluntness100 · 17/06/2021 11:29

How big are they?

vimtosogood · 17/06/2021 11:29

They are feeders for fishing.

Mydogisagentleman · 17/06/2021 11:29

Is it similar to the seeds mysteriously arriving in the post?

WhatIsThisPlease · 17/06/2021 11:30

Sorry, picture doesn't really show the size. They're about the size of a hair roller but very heavy. DM thinks they could be ceramic. There was about 20 in the box?
We're completely flummoxed!!!

Antique bird feeders?

Bloodybridget · 17/06/2021 11:31

How big are they? Couldn't be for herbal tea infusions?

ToffeeNotCoffee · 17/06/2021 11:31

Bird feeder ?

Mothball holder ?

Bloodybridget · 17/06/2021 11:31

Ah, cross posted. No idea then.

wonkylegs · 17/06/2021 11:32

I did a reverse image search on google and it came up with these which look identical www.dbanglingsupplies.co.uk/barbel-fishing
I'm guessing they aren't meant for her unless she's into fishing

WhatIsThisPlease · 17/06/2021 11:34

@wonkylegs

That's it!!!! Thank you so much. You win the prize 🏆

And no - definitely not meant for her 😂

Fruitinator · 17/06/2021 11:35

They look a bit like a mesh fish feeder for bait that carp fishermen use.

Fruitinator · 17/06/2021 11:36

Sorry slow typing- cross posted!

HelpMeh · 17/06/2021 11:37

Were they definitely addressed to her? Or has she ripped into next door's fish supplies package cos it's her birthday and she jumped the gun? Grin

WhatIsThisPlease · 17/06/2021 11:40

@HelpMeh

Ha! No they were delivered to her house and has her address on the parcel but no name. I've just told her what they are and apparently her neighbour is a keen fisherman so she's gone to see it they're meant for him.

Mumsnet solves the mystery!!

Feel a bit sorry for @vimtosogood who identified it first but then credit went to another poster!

Temp023 · 17/06/2021 11:47

I ordered a set of paintbrushes and received an outdoor security light. It does happen.

WhatIsThisPlease · 17/06/2021 11:48

Sorry @vimtosogood - I didn't see your post!

Thank you, you were spot on.

Parcel now with rightful owner and DM a bit sad that the mystery object a) wasn't for her and b) wasn't very interesting!!!
