Most bulldogs can't reproduce naturally due to how the breed has been cultivated.

The males have to be 'assisted' somehow sexually, or the females artificially inseminated.

Then 90% of bulldogs have to be born by Caesarean.

The high costs of this laborious process account for the high price tag of the dogs.

Why AIBU?
Breeding dogs like this is unreasonable..

Did you know tortoishell cats are always female ?

@Anordinarymum I had thought all torties are female, but over the last few years I've seen pics of some tortie-looking cats that are male.

@spotcheck I just meant that I did not know this. I know that sometimes breeds are cultivated in a way that can give an increased risk of health problems, but I didn't know that this extent of it was a thing- that there's a breed that pretty much can't reproduce without human involvement.
