To think I'm getting Covid?

Was in close contact with positive case Friday morning, no mask, close to them for around 2 hours albeit outside. Have felt fine however, I went for a nap today and woke up with a sore throat just when I swallow that is getting increasingly worse, also had a headache this morning but this seems to have subsided. I also am feeling quite hot and sweaty but not hot to touch, it feels like inside my body. However, lateral flow negative.

AIBU to assume this is the start of Covid? It could be something else but seems a bit coincidental no?

Also beginnings of a sniffly nose and sneezing, almost like hay fever. Feel nauseous but I'm going up on my dose of metformin so am aware it's probably that.

Argh. Maybe it's just a cold? Fingers crossed it is!

Get a pcr?

Could be, could also be a cold or anything really with those symptoms. If you think it’s covid get a pcr test, they’re far more sensitive than lateral flows

Presumably you're isolating? Get a test.

Honestly OP yes it sounds like it. Give it 24 hours or so then try a pcr.

If you’ve got the spare tests I’d keep testing every day for the next few days - if you don’t have any more tests get them ordered as they’ll be delivered next day.

I had a sore throat, headache, runny nose, etc a week or so ago. I took tests every day for 4 days, all negative.

Fingers crossed you’ve just got a “summer cold”.

I have ordered PCR but don't have car so has to be a home test so hasn't even arrived yet

Vitamin c, d and zinc will help.

A lateral flow apparently doesn't pick up Delta variant, and only works if you are asymptomatic according to our local PHE (surge testing area nearby).
I would get a PCR test

Although, we panicked at the weekend as DH came home from work and was so unwell. Got him a PCR test which was negative. Spoke to 111 who said it's a virus.

It's like we've forgotten other viruses exist because of the dreaded c19.

Sounds like it, I hope it'll be mild for you. You can get a PCR as a close contact now, without the usual symtoms.

Yes other viruses exist but OP spent time in close proximity with a confirmed case!

Just carry on as normal op. I wouldn't bother isolating or having a pcr test. It seems the general consensus on here and in the wider public is that masks and social distancing doesn't matter any more, so why bother isolating and testing?

@KindergartenKop I actually feel okay this morning, better than last night. Still a bit bunged up, throat not as sore but slept horrendous. Going to do a lateral flow (I know not meant to use them with symptoms, but just curious. Will still isolate if negative obviously).

Sounds like the right shout to get the pcr. They are incredibly fast, generally if you post today you'll have a result by tomorrow night.

Lateral flow are useless. Get PCR and isolate until results.

I have had a really sore throat, headache and cough for 10 days. Have had three PCR tests in that time (due to my work) on day 1, day 4 and day 7 of symptoms and all have been negative.

Just to reassure that it can look like covid and sound like covid but not be covid!
