I work as one and just interested to hear from others really.
Do you currently/have you previously worked as one? What were your working conditions like?
Did the staff get on well and how was your management?
Do you think the residents were provided with high quality care?

I'll start off with my own:
I work a minimum of 32 hours and can pick up more hours if I want but I don't often.
Due to staff shortages we have people doing 50 hours a week.
Staff aren't given the full break they're allocated to on their shift.
Most staff seem to get on well, but I've seen a lot of bitching which I hate.
I don't feel that the staffing numbers are adequate for the residents to receive the time they deserve, things can seem quite rushed and like a conveyor belt.

Have worked in care for years and currently a relief in a group of homes, can pick up shifts when I want to (although covid has kind of restricted this). carers can do 50+ hours thought this is by choice. Carers in the group generally get their breaks. Care in generally good, there is never enough per shift (and the home that has the most carers all they do is sit around and chat). Boyfriends is rife in some homes, no so common in others, the ones that do botch are generally the ones with be kind/ posts saying women should support each other on their facebook
