Yearly gas check fiasco

Dinky2004 · 15/06/2021 16:58

Last month I was due my yearly gas check (Am housing association) booked the day off work as my job doesn't allow half day holidays
They didn't turn up, called the company and no reason was given, booked another appointment and once again didn't turn up, phoned again and they rang the guy who was supposed to do it and no reply.
Told me I would need to rebook, told them that I have little holiday left to book as used for school holidays etc
Luckily my brother had this week off work and offered to be here for them to do it yesterday.
No surprise they didn't show again!!!
Called my HA and have been told that if I don't have this gas check they will go to court and it won't matter if I'm home or not, they will force entry.
3 times it's been arranged, told them they need to ask the company why each appointment no one showed up.
Scared as really don't want a court order against me for something thats out of my hands.

Yes they will eventually force entry

@LoopTheLoops

Yes they will eventually force entry
If they ever turn up!

Sounds difficult OP, I'm not sure what you can do really if the HA won't contact the company to find out why. Out of order that you're wasting your annual leave on this.

Not really sure what to suggest but I feel for you

Well I know someone they did it to, he has MH problems and wouldn’t let them in.

I put a formal complaint to them in writing. "I have, as per my tenancy agreement, made my home and myself available to your engineers to carry out the annual gas safety check. Three separate dates have been made available to you, at your request, yet the engineer failed to attend my property on the scheduled dates. I have used up as much annual leave as I can in order to facilitate this appointment, yet the service has not been fulfilled by your engineer, nor has the appointment been cancelled with any notice. I am happy to make my home available to your engineer on Saturday XX June for this check to be carried out. I appreciate that this service is required by law, and for that reason a copy of my complaint will also be sent to (insert regulating body name here), in order that they can see that I am fulfilling my obligations to you as tenant, and that you are failing in your obligation to me as landlord. Regards, OP"

I've been in this house 22 years and never had a problem, new gas company 3 years ago but no problems till this.
It's not like I'm refusing entry but I don't know what else I can do.
Asked for a Saturday appointment and that won't be till end of August which HA aren't happy with

I wasn't disagreeing but they've failed to turn up 3 times now - it was tongue in cheek

Hope you can find a satisfactory solution. For things that are obligatory there should not be 'morning' or 'afternoon' visits but proper appointments.

Dinky2004 · 15/06/2021 17:17

I'm happy to take a day off every year for this but 3 times of no shows and then being told it would be court ordered scares me
