@seondnamegame I wanted to add something but the post closed. Firstly a lot of people leaving are not actually Londoners, but moved there a while ago and now moving out.
My DS works on a well known BBC drama. Its been cancelled, not moved, but cancelled so the money can be spent elsewhere in the UK, like Manchester. However ironically , he told me half the crew are from the North, they travel down & stay in hotels. They are now losing their jobs! The hotels will lose the trade too. Not quite sure how any of this is a good idea?
Finally, none of my lot all with good jobs & in their 20s can afford London prices so does the Op of the above post think they should stay living with me for ever, or should they be allowed to re locate to somewhere they can afford a home of their own.
Maybe government polices need to be examined, starting with the right to buy & then not allowing councils to build, allowing foreign investors to buy at inflated prices & then leave the properties empty for years, and I am sure other MN have more to say about this. I am not a Londoner although have lived here for 36 yrs or so.
