Bad diamond ring ! Return?!

I bought a diamond ring for my something blue for my wedding. It's a sapphire ring with small diamonds around the outside. Price wise, the website I bought it from was the best. The reviews were good though. The ring wasn't cheap it still cost £375.00, it has a sapphire in the middle and then small diamonds around the outside. I could've got a very similar ring from somewhere like h.samuels but it had the zirconia lab diamonds around the outside rather than real ones. This company had real diamonds round the outside for the same price. Anyway, I wore the ring for two weeks after the wedding and then noticed two of the little diamonds had fallen out !

I contacted the company and they said to send it back and they will have a look at it. I asked for a replacement. They contacted me and said their specialist had looked at it and it had clearly been well worn and bashed about ! (I had only had this ring for two weeks!!) they said as a good will gesture they will replace. I received a new one in the post. I have received this, I wore it on Saturday, took it off on Sunday as we went to the beach. I put it back on again yesterday afternoon and have looked down at it this morning to see it already has a diamond missing !!!

Where would you go from here ?

Ask for a refund?

Atalune · 15/06/2021 11:20

Full refund. Faulty goods.

And but from a reputable seller next time.

I’m just gobsmacked that you’d spend that much money on “something blue”.

If you purchased with a credit card, you can claim a refund through your credit card provider under section 75 consumer credit act. That's if the retailer won't refund you. Perfectly acceptable to expect a diamond ring to be of sufficient quality not to lose stones within six months of purchase. The reference to six months is only because this tends to be the acid test for expectation/ quality of goods.

@MaskingForIt why are you gobsmacked? Surely you understand that different people have different budgets?

Op - return for a full refund as clearly it's not fit for purpose
