Feel frozen and numb

Pls help... I was SO looking forward to lockdown ending and had a very sociable weekend (literally running about to several different events to see people). Woke up today and feel completely frozen/numb emotionally. Sorry not sure if making sense but feel at a really low ebb. Lost confidence and feel ashamed of myself. Had a work call and had to go off cam (luckily not reqd to talk) but was just not able to formulate thoughts or sentences without effort. Please help I don’t know what’s wrong.

Things won’t be any worse than they were this weekend. You can still do all the things you did on Saturday.

Even on the weekend I felt like this but masked it. Now it’s almost like it has all come to the surface. Sorry I know it sounds incredibly petty probably but feel so so much panic.

What is it that you want to be able to do that you now can’t? I’d try and focus on the things that are fine now.

It might be worth chatting to your GP about whether you might be edging towards a bit of anxiety or depression. Flowers

Could there be any reason for it? Have you have the vaccine recently (made me feel weird and foggy/detached), is it an anniversary of something upsetting, etc?

Otherwise, it could just be a reaction to socialising when you haven't been doing it for such a long time - emotional or mental exhaustion or a feeling of failure and awkwardness. I'm very introverted and often feel exhausted and embarrassed after social events (sometimes called a social hangover) but I have heard that a lot of people are having difficulties making the change back into it after lockdown.

It's good that you're aware of how you feel - be gentle with yourself, eat well, sleep well and you'll probably feel back to normal soon.
