Not sure if these neighbours have just moved in but I haven’t noticed it before. Since last weekend every day they’ve had loads of people round on their front garden and large speakers from 9am until late, never been sure what time exactly as can’t hear from my bedroom and go to bed early. Just popped outside and the party is still in full swing at nearly 1am on a Sunday/Monday... surely this isn’t very neighbourly? It’s flats as well so affecting even more people. What goes through some people’s heads?!?

It's so bloody rude. Some people have absolutely no concern for anyone else.

NiceGerbil · 14/06/2021 01:23

'never been sure what time exactly as can’t hear from my bedroom and go to bed early.'

So. You have an issue because you think others might?

Maybe the others don't?!

I like hearing people having fun personally.

MN disagrees strongly though.

cantgetmyheadroundit · 14/06/2021 01:29

I wonder if you live near me OP? The neighbours at the back of me have had speakers blaring football/shit dance music since about 1pm and they're still going. I can only hear when I go out for a cig, but the people nearer must be going nuts.

cantgetmyheadroundit · 14/06/2021 01:31

I do agree with NiceGerbil though, I'm happy to hear others partying, especially after the year we've all had.

Oh yes, there's nothing quite like loud voices, laughing and untz untz untz to lull you to sleep.

WTF.

NiceGerbil · 14/06/2021 01:35

She can't hear them! She goes to bed early and can't hear from her room.

In addition to her not actually being affected.

It can't be that loud tbh

NiceGerbil · 14/06/2021 01:37

And yes I like hearing people having fun.

Next door go till 2am sat every week.

Doesn't bother me.

What does bother me is next door doing his super loud wood chipping machine at 7am every day.

NiceGerbil · 14/06/2021 01:39

Everyone is different.

If you live in close proximity to others then. Stuff will annoy you.

You can either think well they're just doing their thing.

Or get really fucked off.

If the latter then life in a densely populated area will always be a problem.

You’re not here so you don’t actually know how loud it is…! I can’t hear them from my room because I sleep in a back bedroom with the windows closed and have a white noise machine. The person in the front bedroom is partially deaf and sleeps with the windows open but can still hear it, albeit not super loudly. They have a medical condition and are usually exhausted so can fall asleep anyway. If I can hear them down the street on my front garden safe to say the music must be pretty loud to their closer neighbours!

I don’t mind hearing people having fun and I agree Sunday it was nice to hear everyone enjoying themselves all day. I wasn’t here last weekend to hear it and only noticed it first this Saturday evening when I got home because I was working late. I was told by my housemate all the information from before then. It didn’t go as late Saturday, it was just tonight that it gone past midnight which is why I posted!

Nicegerbil, ah, so only noise you deem appropriate 'after the year we've all had'

Macncheeseballs · 14/06/2021 08:21

People who interrupt their neighbours sleep are selfish twats

FAQs · 14/06/2021 08:26

You’re not being unreasonable, living in a area with neighbours should mean being considerate to those who have work, School the next day and therefore not playing music until the early hours.

This. There's no need for it, you can turn the music down or off after 10pm. There's no need to shout all the time either - so many people seem to think it's compulsory to ensure that the entire street can hear what a great drunken time they are having.

Mind you, the bigger problem for me that the moment is next door neighbour's squealy screechy daughter. She simply can't play without screaming. She has friends over every afternoon after school which obviously is great after not being able to do for so long but the screeching, ouch. And they are constantly having something done in their garden which requires power tools :(

Agreed.

It's incredibly rude, entitled and selfish to entertain yourself at everyone else's expense.

WeeWelshWoman · 14/06/2021 08:40

Post 11pm call 101 or Environmental Health 24 hour line (depending on the set up with your local council). Report every incidence. A news abatement order and a fine will stop the music late at night.

Bluntness100 · 14/06/2021 08:41

Do you think we can ask mnhq to put a sticky on saying “ yes yes it’s rude to party loudly after eleven o clock, no need to start three threads a day asking the exact same question”

Iluvfriends · 14/06/2021 08:46

It's rude and downright disrespectful to be playing very loud music at an unreasonable hour. As a one off i would suck it up but if it became a regular thing i would be pretty pissed off.

No thanks I’ll post what I want when I want, might start a whole new thread about it next time it happens just for the fun of it

Call 101 after 11 at night, you should have done so on the second night.

They won’t do anything, had to call them before about a more direct neighbour and they said nothing they can do
