3 yo birthday party

My DS is turning three next month. He has been talking about a birthday party for months. I want to do something small with a few of his nursery friends (plus parents) in our garden, but haven't got a clue of what to do. Cake obviously, but goody bags, party games etc? What did you/ would you do? Advice needed - thanks

A paddling pool or water guns etc? Personally, at 3, I'd just let them play in the mud kitchen/playhouse/paddling pool in the garden. Perhaps have some music for some dancing and get some food for them and a cake like you say.

Pinata?

I'd probably hire an age appropriate inflatable for them a to jump on.
Plenty of balls for them to play with.
Bubble machine.

I run preschool nature sessions. Could you do some kind of hunt in the garden? Then have a craft to do - I've done all sorts at my sessions, from rabbit headbands to clay hedgehogs to bluebell wands to stencilling fabric bags. Then a few games and tea? A nice, simple party!

Pass the parcel always goes down well, musical bumps or musical statues maybe?
