I'm sick of reading stories where the local police have been unable to act due to resources and a crowd of yobs has just been allowed to crack on with whatever they're doing.

Is it not time we started flying in the army to deal with these scum when the local police can't cope.

Where are ‘all these stories’ ?

Are you sure that any reports that the police can’t deal with them ‘due to resources’ aren’t really ‘not worth the resources’ rather than ‘not having resources’?

What you want is a violent response to a party/gathering of people?

But not ‘police unable to act due to lack of resources’

KrisAkabusi · 13/06/2021 19:05

The army are not the police. They are not trained to deal with what the police do. They are completely unsuited to policing roles. YABU.

mbosnz · 13/06/2021 19:17

Army being used to perform policing duties is very well known to lead to very bad outcomes.

Hoppinggreen · 13/06/2021 19:19

We have one planned for the end of August.
There’s face painting and people are knitting bunting.
Pretty sure the army won’t be required

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 13/06/2021 19:33

The army has less powers on the streets of the UK than the police.

And they are a bit busy doing their actual jobs... DHs current job is finding enough people for essential tasks...

TwoZeroTwoZero · 13/06/2021 19:53

Or, you know, we could stop voting for the party that has deliberately and chronically underfunded the Police service (and other essential public services) for over a decade 🤷

But not ‘police unable to act due to lack of resources’

Never said that was the case

BackforGood · 13/06/2021 22:47

YABU to write an OP that is nothing to do with your thread title.

YABU to think that is what the armed forces are for

YABU to think that is what the public at large want.

Now, starting a thread about actually funding the police to have the resources to do the job they do to the standard they would like to be doing, would get you a lot of support.

It’s what the OP is claiming happens.

Your link however shows something that actually has happened - problem occurs, gets reported, police attend
