A few months ago I was interviewing for a new role and needed to produce a couple of outputs as part of the process. Obviously did these myself but I wanted the job v much so paid for a tutor to review and advise / do mock interviews with me. Tutor was incredibly helpful but expensive (I bought a package of 6 sessions for like 600 all in) and we only ended up using about 4.5 sessions give it take, bought in a package. We did have a further session booked in but I cancelled for valid reasons - now I’m wondering whether or not to ask for the remaining money back or just to write it off in the knowledge I got the job and it was an investment into that? I feel like it’s a little late to ask and I’m definitely glad for the advice as it got me where I am today.

You brought a package - you knew the terms - why would they refund you?

TwoAndAnOnion · 13/06/2021 10:12

You bought it, you didn't fully utilise the package, the onus is on you to use the other 1.5 sessions, not impact his income by asking for a refund of something you didnt need nor was faulty.

Fair point thank you both

Are you sure you can’t benefit from any further help they might be able to offer? I think it’s cheeky to ask for a refund, you bought a product and only used a small portion of it. Use it to lose it is generally the answer.

Sparklesocks · 13/06/2021 10:15

It would depend on the contract/agreement but when you buy a package for things like that you are liable for all of the payment regardless so I’m not sure you’d be able to claim anything back

YABU

You cancelled, not the tutor. It’s not their fault that there wasn’t time to reschedule before the interview. Why should they be out of pocket because you cancelled? Just suck it up as the cost of the package
