Missed period but not pregnant aibu

Only had sex once this month, admittedly when I was ovulating. I'm now 4 days late with no period, I've never had this happen before. I've been having cramps, sore boobs, had a dizzy spell earlier etc and so I thought it would start but nothing ! I've tested a few times, yesterday I had one positive looking test but the rest have been negative so I've put that down to a faulty test or an evap line.

We go on holiday for a week tomorrow (in the uk), would I be unreasonable to book in at a gp phone appointment if still no period by Monday ? I'm aware the NHS is under huge strain atm with covid and I'm not entirely sure what they could do but I'm very confused as to what's going on with my body.

I think I'm over thinking all this and my period will arrive but I've had previous miscarriages and chemicals (as well as one healthy baby) so anything that goes a bit off with my fertility/ periods tends to throw me.

Sorry for rambling.

I wouldn’t book in with the GP for this.

Wigglegiggle0520 · 12/06/2021 21:30

YABU unless there’s a history of issues with your cycle.
Give it a few days and test again.

Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 21:37

I guess yes I don't need the gp appt as they won't be able to tell me much more than wait and see when it comes. At what point do you go to the GP though? After a second missed period ?

@Wigglegiggle0520 i can't see how I could be pregnant, surely by this point pregnancy tests would be glowing !

I'm definitely over thinking this.

Wigglegiggle0520 · 12/06/2021 21:40

How old are you? Peri?
Start tracking your cycles maybe.

Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 21:43

@Wigglegiggle0520 God I hope not I'm not even 30 yet. We struggled to have our son, not getting pregnant but staying pregnant and now I think this little thing has thrown me back into a world of doubt and panic that we may not be able to have a second. I thought I was over that chapter in my life mentally but obviously I'm not and I think it's something I'm going to have to seek help with.

Did you have a covid jab this month? That’s been affecting some people’s cycles

ashmts · 12/06/2021 21:45

My cycle has never been regular so knowing you're 4 days late is mind-blowing to me. You can skip periods for all sorts of reasons including stress. The GP will probably just tell you that and to call back in a month or two if it still hasn't appeared. In the meantime, do another test in a few days.

NcagainNC · 12/06/2021 21:48

I think it’s 3 months that they say to track before visiting a GP

I agree with the PP, 4 days is nothing

Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 21:49

@Sunbird24 I've had both jabs but not this month (I've had a normal cycle since my second jab)

@ashmts yes I got into a terrible habit of noting everything when we ttc our first and had some issues (I don't want to go into detail but it became imperative with my pregnancies that my dates were accurate) and I've never stopped. I ovulate within a day or two of the same time each cycle and my period is never late.

OP posts:
Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 21:51

@NcagainNC thank you, i will go by the 3 month rule if that is what they recommend. I think writing this post and getting the answers has made me realise I have panicked here and sat over thinking. I'm going to try to relax and put this at the back of my mind.

OP posts:
SparklyLeprechaun · 12/06/2021 21:53

Stress, quick weight gain or loss, significant change in diet, illness, some contraception - lots of possible benign reasons, no need to panic. The GP won't tell you anything useful.

Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 21:53

@SparklyLeprechaun I have a very boring life but you're right it could be anything! I do feel a lot better for posting (If not a little silly!)

I wouldn't book in for it by Monday but maybe after your holiday, if your period hasn't arrived yet. Are you tracking your cycles?

I found the temperature indicator very reliable for me, both on ovulation and pregnancy.

i can't see how I could be pregnant, surely by this point pregnancy tests would be glowing !

You're probably not, but every woman is different. A fertilised egg implants between 7 and 14 days after fertilisation, so if it happened later it's possible that hcg levels are not yet high enough. Whether that is the case for you, only your body can tell you (or another test). But maybe wait a couple of days before retesting?

im2sad · 12/06/2021 21:56

Did you get the negatives after the positive? I think I'd test again in a few days.
Fwiw there's many of us who's tests would still be pretty faint at 4 days late.

lotstolose1 · 12/06/2021 21:56

I had this a couple of months back. 10 days late, I was CONVINCED I was pg. I was throwing up, sore boobs, all the signs. Kept testing and getting negatives. Then the next day AF arrived. I'd maybe just test again in a couple of days but I wouldn't bother the GP unless you miss another period.

Sod's law that it's probably waiting until your holiday to turn up.

Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 22:02

@CharlieParley @im2sad I do track yes, I was a bit lax this cycle as we aren't actively ttc and my dh has been away with work so we only had sex once this month. I thought by now a test would surely pick up something, especially the early ones. I didn't think it was possible to be so far past ovulation and not have a positive test. The one I got that was positive was in between two negatives. I do think it was a faulty test though. That or I guess I could be having another chemical but then why wouldn't my period have started by now 🤔

I'm just going to have to put it to the back of my mind and hope it kicks itself back into normal.

Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 22:04

@lotstolose1 at first I thought I might be pregnant but now I really dont think I am. I have had low blood pressure since having my son so I'm used to the feeling sick and dizzy occasionally. Yes you're right i bet as soon as we arrive it will come 😒

OP posts:
DeflatedGinDrinker · 12/06/2021 22:08

I've been convinced I've been pregnant for months. Sore boobs, late periods, cravings, sickness. I'm not its stress and wishful thinking 🙈🙈

Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 22:11

@DeflatedGinDrinker that definitely could have been me when we tried for our first. Every sign I was convinced!

Traveller3367 · 12/06/2021 22:54

I had similar happen in Feb. 1 week late. Pregnancy tests kept showing Negative. Posted on here and told likely late ovulation so delayed period.
Then after 1 week - Positive
Now 14 weeks pregnant
Exact same thing happened to my friend at exactly the same time. She pushed me to retest after getting her BFP. We are due 3 days apart.

romdowa · 12/06/2021 22:59

Past summer, I completely skipped a period. All tests were negative and it returned the next month. I was horrendously stressed at the time and gp put that down as the reason

Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 23:00

@Traveller3367 congratulations on your pregnancy! Lovely to go through it with a friend. I really don't think I am pregnant as the chances would be so slim ! I'm fairly sure of when I ovulated. But if we are then we will be happy :-)

OP posts:
Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 23:01

@romdowa yes there must be a reason. I can't think of any changes in stress etc but I guess these things are so delicate anyway it could be anything! Hope life is less stressful for you now.

OP posts:
Aquamarine1029 · 12/06/2021 23:04

You really need to relax and stop worrying about it. You're either pregnant or you're not, and it doesn't even matter right now. Have fun on your holiday and do everything you would normally.

Worriedandconfused23 · 12/06/2021 23:15

@Aquamarine1029 I'm going to try :-) thank you, I know you're right and I'm just being a bit daft!
