To ask if there's anything I can do?

DD is in year 9 and so is her boyfriend. She recently told me that when he goes to his dads, his dad swears at him and calls him names etc and his step siblings do the same. He told her that he told his mum but his mum didn't care as he doesn't think she cares about him. DD told him to tell their head of year and he did.

DD has just showed me a message from him, they were having a conversation and he said something like ‘do you ever want to die’ and dd replied ‘no, why? And he replied ‘just wondering’

Is there anything I can do?

Contact their head of year at school and raise it as a possible safeguarding concern. Poor boy, that's so sad.

Maybe call the samaritans or childline or nspcc for advice if you think something needs to be done before Monday.
