To ask if you’ve ever had a sore pimple on your arse?

Well. I didn’t think this was what my life would be like but here we are!

I’ve had problems with anal fissures for years. I’ve also had the occasional flare of a tiny, unproblematic haemorrhoid. Sometimes the fissures are a bit frisky pain-wise and they’ve been quite bad this year anyway so I didn’t think too much of it when things got really uncomfortable just over a week ago.

Long story short, I got a mirror and a torch tonight and had a good look. I have a white-headed pimple on a puffy bit of anus skin (possibly the little pile). I’ve put some sudacrem on but I’m now wondering what the hell is going on.

It really bloody hurts though it has been up and down since it started...

Anyone got any insights into what could be going on or, better still, how to sort it out?!

Cant really offer any help here OP except maybe some warm compresses. Usually I'd be suggesting you treat the residents of Sporners to a photo but in these specific circumstances I think.....not.

No help with the spot OP, but have you had GTN or Botox for the fissures?

Have you tried an off-the-shelf cream like anusol or germaloids?

Could it be the beginning of a pilonidal sinus?
I had one of those once, 40 years ago. It was without a doubt, one of THE most unpleasant things I've ever experienced (removed surgically, and a month of daily dressing changes).

Or could it be a bartholins cyst? Google that. I had one and it fucking hurt

Time for gp out of hours I'd say to get reviewed and maybe antibiotics ASAP.

I say this as it can be serious, Dh had one which we initially thought was a regular abcess but it was also tracked up inside and perforated his bowel in 2 places, he was v unwell then and needed lots of surgeries afterwards.

As a dedicated sporner, my money is on the pilonodial cyst.
Is it on your bum or, erm.. up it?

@Biscoffin I had the GTM years ago and hve a prescription for diltziadem on the way so hopefully that’ll help the fissures themselves.

@ChrisOnTheBeach I’ve tried the OTC stuff and also, just did 12 procrosedyl (?) suppositories but I suspect these aren’t working because of this additional pimple element.

@CallmeHendricks and @MorriseysGladiolinah nah - they’re further up, not ON the err opening. I know this because I was born with the dimple that often predisposes you to them!

@Nannyamc I have some of that so will give it a try once I’ve got this more gruesome bit in order.

@milkjetmum there’s not a chance I can get in with the doctor quickly but I’ll give it a whirl on Monday. I have access to a private gp online but I feel like I draw a line at taking photos of my (grim) arse...Maybe I should just do it and see what they say!

To clarify - although I can see this on the outside, this is coming from the inside. I don’t think I’m communicating this well but it’s not near my anus, it’s ON/IT it.

My grandmother had a wonderful remedy for boils, pimples, sores and the likes. Which was to regularly spit on them! This may sound odd but your spit contains compounds from your immune system.

I have always found that this works! With boils and pimples it seems to encourage it coming to a head and discharging. Then it will quickly heal up. Combine this with hot compresses and frequent bathing.

Let's not beat about the bush here - on or in?

@MorriseysGladioli BOTH! I don’t know how to better explain it. I’d say IN, for sure, BUT you can see the pimple element on the outside. But it is on the outside of the anus, not nearby on the outside IYSWIM...

Well, a salt bath will help, whether it's in or out, i reckon.
Or Epsom salts, if you have some.

Well @Bessiebum…Let me tell you. After it constantly refilling then disappearing, refilling then disappearing, it settled right down for a few weeks. But as I’d booked in, I went to a bum man. A specialist that is - not just a fella who likes rears. Anyway, long story short, I had a fistula and I had surgery to ‘lay it open’ 2 weeks ago. A wild ride since those early posts!

Im sure yours is nothing so sinister so don’t panic. But if it is what I had, let me reassure you that the procedure and the recovery is nowhere near as bad as I anticipated. Popping it, however, would not have been a good idea for me.
