Swear I’m pregnant. Tests are negative.

My last period ended on April 21st and I haven’t had one since. I have had itchy and dry nipples for the past four weeks and today I had a bout of nausea and stomach pain almost like a stretching stomach pain. All my tests are negative. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on booking in a private early scan to see if there is a pregnancy? I would be around six weeks pregnant now — my last pregnancy didn’t show until I was six weeks pregnant which is why I’m hesitant about the tests. Not sure whether to keep waiting to see whether a period comes or to check it out. Any thoughts?

In my experience, a negative test several days after you're due is correct. But to go this long without a period, you should contact your doctor and get it looked at.

If tests are negative, I think I'd see a doctor rather than booking a test.

At 6w I had quite a traumatic pregnancy scan. I'm nearly 13 weeks now. I had been getting positive tests for nearly 4 weeks before my scan, too - I had it for bleeding.

It's different for everyone, but stretching stomach pain at 6w would be pretty early. I had no symptoms at all that early - nausea kicked in around 8 weeks and was worst until 10w then disappeared, I've never had any nipple changes. I'm starting to get stretching sensations around 12w.

Your doctor could run HCG tests, although they may want to rule out any other causes beforehand. There are some things that can cause similar symptoms to pregnancy that you don't want to hang around on, so I think I'd do that before booking a scan.

I’d maybe ring your GP for a blood test, but be prepared for them to say no and to test again in a few weeks time.

My last pregnancy I didn’t get a positive test until 5/6 weeks and nothing showed on scan until 7 weeks. I also had stomach pain and nausea around 6-7 weeks. Baby is one now. Would like another baby, so trying not to get hopes up - guess I’ll contact my doctor first!

Pregnancy is dated from the first day of your LMP so you’d actually be around 8 weeks now. You should have a positive test at this point if you’re pregnant.

My cycle is 40 days so I’d be 6 weeks 2 days. But yes I have had the vaccine so it’s probably that. Thank you!
