AIBU? MLM...

I know someone who does MLM. They do raffles and games etc on their page.
I only entered as I felt bad as nobody else was entering, yesterday the money was due and from 5am I had tags and messages within twenty minutes of each other from the person asking for the money. Obviously I wasn't awake at this time and it ended up with a few more messages.
Was I being unreasonable to tell them to take my name off the game because they were hounding me from an ungodly hour? Hmm it's seriously put me off MLM for life.

Of course you were not unreasonable.
Also, you should never feel guilt tripped into supporting someone's business. Either it stands on its own two feet, or it doesn't. A business that relies on guilting friends and family isn't a business, it's a one-person-benefit charity.

YANBU

Supporting MLMs never ends well. Don’t like or follow the page, if she shares it on her personal social media unfollow or unfriend her

StillCoughingandLaughing · 05/06/2021 10:42

Tell them you’ve changed your mind because you’ve realised it’s all one big con.

MLM "raffles" are illegal. People promoting raffles in this way have to have a gambling commission licence. MLM bots don't.

Just another shady tactic employed by the hun-bots.

murbblurb · 05/06/2021 10:45

Yes, that. She won't like it, anyone daft enough to fall for mlm is going to struggle to be big enough to admit that they've cocked up. She will work it out one day.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I'm pleased it's put you off MLM for life.

MLM companies are ghastly. Do not support any friends that have been sucked in by them by spending any money on whatever it is they're punting. Just be there for the friend when it all falls apart.
