Does this need medical attention?

I woke up this morning feeling fine, went to loo and had the most horrendous cramps. I got my period which explains the cramps but I soon passed out after and got sick. DH held me so I didn’t injure myself. Lying in bed but still feel quite weak and nauseous. No temperature, had 2nd AZ vaccine last week. I’ve never had painful periods to this extent so am alarmed what this could be, will ring the GP for advice but has anyone had this ever?

I would call GP as you passed out.

Call 111

Whostoblame · 04/06/2021 10:58

Definitely call 111

Doubleistrouble · 04/06/2021 11:47

I’ve called 111, waiting for a call back now. Wondering if it’s due to the vaccine as have heard from friends who’ve had unusually heavy periods after the vaccine.

Let us know how you are x

Hope you soon feel better Op. I heard a radio interview this week discussing the impact of the jab on periods. They asked anyone who had experienced unusual periods after the jab to report to Yellow card.

RedHelenB · 05/06/2021 07:29

I really don't think you need a doctor. I'm on mine and had the jab and came over all sick and faint and had to lie in the hallway before crawling up to bed. Slept mostly the last day , feeling a bit better today but going to rest up still.

Bouncebacker · 05/06/2021 08:15

Please please please call 111 - it’s probably not even slightly related but my friend died from blood clots after AZ - (totally different symptoms to you) so just don’t take any risks - better to get checked out

JinglingHellsBells · 05/06/2021 09:25

I guess the OP has this sorted now, but there is a lot of advice online and on the info given at the time of the jab, on what to do if you have serious side effects that may indicate a blood clot.

Feeling sick, being sick and even fainting are listed as side effects that are relatively common.

I went to urgent care eventually, the consultant thought it was the intense cramps that caused the fainting. She didn’t think it has anything to do with the jab but given I’ve never had this kind of pain before I definitely think the jab had something to do with it.

The exact same thing happened to me a few times and it turned out to be a degenerating fibroid, worth asking for a gynae referral.

You did the right thing. You should always get medical attention if you lose consciousness for an unexpected or unexplained reason.
SunshineSum · 05/06/2021 10:41

Ask for a scan. That's not normal and especially is not normal for you. They've told you it's not the vaccine so they should be finding out what it is. It could be fibroids or a cyst or torsion or any number of things.
