To ask about my armpit lump?

Hi all,

Today I discovered a painless, pea sized lump just underneath the skin in the middle of my armpit. It's movable but pretty hard - almost feels a bit rubbery. The surface of the skin is raised due to the lump being just underneath. I had my covid vaccine (Pfizer) on Saturday, but the jab was the opposite side. Should I get it checked out or wait a few days? I'm 31 years old. Thank you so much for your advice.

Get it checked. Always get it checked. No one will be cross if it's nothing.

I have a lump underneath mine which I have had for many many years it's a gland I am told. Sweat I suppose. That's a hard lump pea size too but does get bigger and is noticeable when my arms stretched up X

Always get any lumps checked if they are bothering you xx

Haggisfish · 03/06/2021 22:55

Get it checked but most likely nothing.

PurpleDaisies · 03/06/2021 22:56

It’s probably nothing to worry about but that’s something to get checked out. I’d give your gp a call.

Talipesmum · 03/06/2021 22:58

I had one of these, went away after 7-10 days - it was sore for the first couple of days, then just lumpy, then it just slowly decreased in size over around a week till nothing left.

Dresssos · 03/06/2021 22:58

Thank you everyone. Will ring the GP tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers that it's nothing serious. I've checked my breasts and can't feel anything there.

Please, please get it checked ASAP . I speak from experience.

Rabbitheadlights · 03/06/2021 23:00

Always, always get it checked OP always. It's a minor in onvenience that could have huge ramifications.

catthatgotthecream · 03/06/2021 23:06

I am getting a breast ultrasound in two weeks as I found a lump on breast after my covid jab. ( Astra z). Agree to get it checked. Good luck x

TwinkleToeMatilda · 03/06/2021 23:07

Get it checked. I have been twice before when worried about something like this.

Pinkylemons · 03/06/2021 23:09

Definitely get it checked out by my your GP. I get lumps all the time. They usually go again after a few weeks then another appears. They are painful as well.

Smolgoose · 03/06/2021 23:10

Get it checked - I have had this a few times, both turned out to be sebacious cysts and eventually went away on their own but it needs to be checked. GPS are always happy to check as breast tissue extends into the armpit and lymph nodes are also there so lumps there shouldn't be ignored.

Hankunamatata · 03/06/2021 23:11

Yes get it checked

Thistles24 · 03/06/2021 23:12

I developed lumps in the week after my Pfizer vaccine too, but in my case I knew they were swollen glands- one on my collar bone and one under my armpit, both very tender to touch. They went down within a week. But always worth having lumps checked out .

Nannyamc · 03/06/2021 23:14

I have had this. Very painful went ro gp. Blood tests revealed type 2 diabetes. Very sore and hard to heal.
After meditation i have not had it in years..

jimjambob · 03/06/2021 23:15

Maybe its built up deodorant

FrostyFruit · 03/06/2021 23:24

Being that you've just had your vaccine it is probably just a swollen gland due to your bodys immune response but definitely get it checked out just to be safe. They will likely just do an ultrasound on it and probably a breast ultrasound aswell. Good luck OP. Please don't stress as it's likely nothing to worry about.

blahblahfootballblah · 03/06/2021 23:39

Definitely get checked!

NeverfishedinFrance · 03/06/2021 23:53

I had an aching and dragging feeling in my armpits after the second Pfizer vaccine and a lump in the one furthest from injection site. I reported this on the yellow card scheme ( for reporting adverse drug reactions). The feeling and lump didn't last long but worth getting GP to look to be on the safe side. I recently did a test which showed I had short and long term antibodies to Covid 19 so hopefully that may be what is happening for you.

DoreensEatingHerSoreen · 04/06/2021 00:31

As people have said, always best to get new lumps checked.
I'm living with cancer and have heard lots of people in the cancer community reporting underarm lymph node activity showing up on routine scans following their Covid vaccinations, as the immune system is busy reacting to the vaccine. I'm hoping that's the case for you!

Dresssos · 04/06/2021 09:28

Hi all, thank you so much for your comments. The GP rang me today and said that it's unlikely to be due to the covid vaccine as it's the opposite side. He said it could just be a cyst or a swollen lymph node especially as it's quite close to the skin, but he is going to take a look at it on Monday afternoon. Now, to try and spend the weekend not worrying like crazy!

Planesmistakenforstars · 04/06/2021 10:18

Get it checked. Always, always get it checked. I've had armpit lumps just like that a few times, and each time it's just some kind of benign cyst. But it's not worth ignoring it for the time when it's something else.

longwayoff · 04/06/2021 10:57

Probably a lymph node but definitely get it checked.

Haggisfish · 04/06/2021 15:43

I had one raised once after being in a hot tub...skin infection.
