Any Birmingham Mini Paceman drivers out there?

Apparently our cars are Euro 6 (they would have to be as the model 2013 - 2016 would not be illegal to sell after 2015 if it wasn't Euro 6); however the gov have it down as Euro 5 which means we have to pay additional in the new zone.

Anyone got to the bottom of this?

*would not be legal! Sorry long hot day.

I hope the fellow paceman drivers out there get the idea and can read through my heat stroke induced ramblings :)

I may be being dense but that link you gave asks you to enter your registration number and it then tells you if you will be charged in Bath and or Birmingham. I can see no mention of the Euro rating.

The Mini Paceman as a model was facelifted in 2014. Some models sold that year were Euro 5, some were the upgraded 2 litre diesel unit which was Euro 6 compliant.

There's an emissions look-up tool on the Vehicle Standards Agency website. Just look here:

www.gov.uk/co2-and-vehicle-tax-tools

YABU by the way.

You're not the one being dense...

The AIR Index is showing what you are explaining Ginuwine

No idea how I am being unreasonable. This whole time I assumed I was driving a car with low emissions and turns out that may not be the case.

You're being unreasonable by posting links that don't back up what you're saying.

LemonSwan · 03/06/2021 23:03

Sorry I am not following VeniVidiWeeWee

Do you have a 2014 paceman and when you put it into www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones you are getting Euro6?

@Ginuwine

Please may you tell me how I can work out whether its an old or new one.

When I put in my number plate it is coming up Euro 5 on some websites and Euro 6 on others.

Its Euro 6 with the London Assembly and Euro 5 with the bath/ birmingham website (Euro 6 is non-chargeable).

I cannot seem to be able to get the link above www.gov.uk/co2-and-vehicle-tax-tools to work.

I have my VIN number and have researched all the stats. If you know from a glance please let me know :)

Its not an automatic btw - no idea why it says that.

Can I ask @LemonSwan why you assumed you had a car with low emissions?

Euro 6 only became a standard in the UK from September 2015. Previous to that date, SOME diesel cars were manufactured with engines that met Euro 6 (some good examples are the Audi A6 2.0 diesel Ultra models, which were compliant from 2014, and the S Class 3 litre diesels from the same year).

My point is - 2014 was a crossover year for the Paceman as that's when a refresh happened.

So, SOME Paceman's from 2014 are Euro 6 compliant.

Some are not, because they're the runout of the old model.

You have the latter. Just because it was manufactured in the year of 2014, and the
Paceman model got updated that same year.. doesn't mean you own one of the updated ones.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 03/06/2021 23:15

As I posted above, you don't get any Euro rating using that link, (unless I'm missing something).

LemonSwan · 03/06/2021 23:15

Thanks ginu, we cross posted. So from the above stats I definitely have the older model?

To let you know why I though it was low. I bought second hand and checked the number plate on Parkers and it came up as Euro 6.

@LemonSwan

I think so - I can't be 100 certain sorry!.

The image you posted shows your car had the N47 diesel engine that BMW used extensively across their ranges. From memory that was Euro 5. I cannot be certain but I think the N47 was phased out in 2014 and replaced by a cleaner engine (B-something).

I can't probably help any further but we are a massive pistonhead family hence this random knowledge!

LemonSwan · 03/06/2021 23:20

@VeniVidiWeeWee
If its charge-able its not Euro 6; and it is saying my car is chargeable.

Thanks Ginu. Really appreciate you taking the time.

It is disappointing. To go from the Nox A rating to an E is disappointing. Its not the car I thought I was buying but too late now.

I will email MINI to double check and then will have to just get on with my life and unexpectedly super fume emitting car.
