Damaged parcel from Hermes

Hi all,

Just received a parcel from Hermes and it arrived with the top of the box completely ripped open. Not just a small tear, it seems as though someone has rummaged inside, presumably to see if there is anything worth stealing Angry

AIBU to send it all back for a refund? It’s cosmetics so I don’t feel safe using them now. One of the bottles was in a box that was ripped and doesn’t have a security seal on the lid so definitely not putting that product on my face.

It’s so fecking annoying but the delivery driver just shrugged and said it was like that when he got it 😞

Presumably the delivery driver took a photo of the parcel by your open door as proof of delivery? I'm which case it will be pretty clear it was damaged before it reached you.

I had a similar issue with Hermes last year during lockdown. I raised it with Hermes who were useless and with the company who were much better and refunded me. To be fair this is the only time it has happened (so far) and I have had quite a few deliveries since.

@WeAreTheHeroes yes he did thank goodness. I know someone who ordered a games console which didn’t turn up. The company investigated and it turns out it was stolen by the person responsible for loading deliveries, caught on CCTV. Not sure if they’d bother going to those lengths to see what happened with mine but if need be there should be evidence

@Iamanaubergine I’ve had lots of deliveries from them during lockdown too and nothing like this had happened. I haven’t bothered taking it up with Hermes though, last time I checked they didn’t have a customer service telephone number. I’ve gone straight to the company I bought the goods from.

Are the cosmetics not sealed?

WeAreTheHeroes · 03/06/2021 16:03

Have you not read the OP properly?!

WeAreTheHeroes · 03/06/2021 16:04

Your contract is with the retailer - I'd just contact them.

I had this happen to a parcel which I sent to family at Christmas. Presents were slashed open, although the box looked intact. A box of chocolates was missing with the wrapping paper left behind. Hermes ignored complaints. You had best go back to the retailer.
