Has anyone sent an adults bike by courier?

Has anyone sent a bike by courier before? it is an adults bike, and I need to have it sent from Hull to London. I'm going to try and contact some delivery companies, but wondered if anyone had any experience of doing this? And roughly how much did it cost? Or by some miracle, does anyone know of any company that has a van/lorry regularly drive between the two points and has space on board?

Get a proper bike box and you can send it the same as any other parcel. Dpd are the most cost effective for me (north Pennines) and have decent insurance but a quick Google will give you loads of courier options.

Ask at your local bike shop if they have any cardboard bike boxes they are getting rid of - you can then package it up properly.

I searched for quotes recently on Shiply for shipping an adult's bike and the cheapest was around £50. It is cheaper if you can box it.
