Hi all, looking for some advice.
DS 4 has had 3 seizures in the past 12 months, all occurring after bumping head (never hard though, once at nursery and twice at home on the carpet) Hits head, pupils fully dilate, grinds teeth, spits, makes some awful noises and almost vibrates. The first 2 times I called 111 and was sent to A&E, 3rd time I skipped 111 and went straight to hospital. The first 2 times they’ve observed him for 3 hours and sent us home saying it was a fluke and to just keep an eye on him. 3rd time they sent us home but told us to speak to GP about being referred to neurology for further testing.
I have a history of epilepsy, I was under the care of GOSH, medicated from age 4-12, and have had no seizures in 14 years.
I spoke with DS GP, who has said that they don’t feel the need to refer him as he has no lasting side effects from the seizures and recovers quickly. Am I being unreasonable in asking for a second opinion via another GP? It’s now happened 3 times and with my medical history (several of my own seizures were triggered by bumping my head) I would have thought it would warrant some investigation?? Also worried about him starting school this year as lord knows he’ll bump his head a few times at some point and would like to know what causes it/what instructions to give people should it happen again.
Thanks in advance
