To be annoyed by inconsiderate parking

We have a driveway that is gated but not used as such as a driveway but it does give access to our garage. AIBU to be annoyed by next door’s builders who constantly park over our driveway and now the neighbours doing it as the builders are parked in the place they would put their van. For reference there is at least 5 other spaces they could put it on the street. I feel annoyed every time they do this but am I being petty?

Do you need to use your gates for access? Do you know the neighbours? If you’ve had a reasonable relationship with them, tell them it’s inconveniencing you.

Are they parking over a dropped kerb?

WiddlinDiddlin · 01/06/2021 14:29

Impossible to say without accurate and amusing diagram and knowing whether you have an official and legit dropped kerb (if you should need one).

BlueDucky · 01/06/2021 14:38

Do you have a dropped kerb. Do you ever use your garage.

Can we have a diagram?

disappointed101 · 01/06/2021 14:39

No it is a dropped kerb. The previous owners used it as a proper driveway. Our car is slightly too large plus there is lots of on street parking as most people only use driveways. It’s nice to have access sometimes but we don’t need it every day.

You could get one of those signs that say access required 24/7 or every Tuesday etc if thats when you use it

If it’s builders then presumably they are doing work for a neighbour, if this is temporary and not causing an issue, and they move if asked then I wouldn’t be bothered as eventually they’ll be gone and normality will resume

I once got a friend to park her deeply unsightly old caravan outside my house to fuck off my (ex)neighbour who thought the street was His personal fiefdom. His reaction was comedy gold.

Talk to the neighbours. Hopefully they are not ogres.
