To have asked her to make me a new drink?

Stayed in a B&B and asked for a Diet Coke at the bar and the woman serving me picked up a glass from under the counter already filled with coke and ice and said “this was just made I promise”. The ice already looked partly melted.

I just thought this was a bit gross so I asked for a new one which she looked annoyed about.

Yanbu

AdoraBell · 31/05/2021 17:20

Definitely YANBU

YANBU. This reminds me of a visit to a pub I had once.

Me - Vodka and coke please!
Bartender - Coming up. [Pours a measure of vodka. Leans beneath the bar and pulls out a 2 litre tesco value cola bottle with about 300 ml left at the bottom. Opens it. Silence, zero fizz. Adds it to vodka.] Here you are.
Me - [Bites tongue and pays]
Me - [Drinks] [Thinks - This is warm, totally flat disgusting filth]
Me - Bartender - this vodka and coke is warm and flat. May I have another one please?
Bartender - What's the point in getting you another one, it'll be just like that [points at liquid filth]?

I am someone who tends to be reasonably chilled, and tends to take a while to get wound up, but I went from 0 to completely fuming in about 0.1 seconds.

Vile, she's VVVU for expecting a paying customer to accept that! Anyone would ask for a new one.

2bazookas · 31/05/2021 19:04

In other words, she tried to sell the same drink twice over. CF.

Glass from under the bar. Who knows who has touched it, or if it was washed?

Definitely should be mentioned in a Trip Advisor review at least.

Reminds me of being at a meal with my mother, bottle of red ordered and brought over from a side shelf-cabinet unit and opened at the table.

My mother tasted it and said the wine was corked, the waiter sniffed it and agreed and took the bottle away out to a back room and replaced it with a fresh bottle from the side cabinet.

About 10 minutes later we watched him appear from the same back room with an alreqdy open bottle which he presented to a neighbouring table who tried it and drank it quite happily.

We have always presumed that he had passed the corked bottle onto a table who were less discerning 😂

Crikey, it could have been drugged! YADNA!!

Casmama · 31/05/2021 23:22

I don't think you were particularly unreasonable but some of the previous responses are bizarre! Chances are she poured a Diet Coke instead of a normal one or something and then realised.
I think it would be dreadful to leave a trip advisor review over that!

From experience in working behind a bar, mistakes get made and its great if you can quickly pass on one of those to another customer rather than tip it down the drain.
Thats more than likely what happened, nothing weird or strange. Just a mistake like a pp said she poured diet instead of standard Coke or two staff poured the same drink. In the heat today the ice would have melted real quick too.
However I never would have done it in front of the customer, luckily it was all table service so customers were none the wiser and drinks were exactly what they ordered.

YANBU. Once ordered a plain pizza slice at a place where they make it fresh in front of you but it arrived with sweet corn embedded in it. The server assured me some had just fallen on top and that it was a new pizza slice. God knows how long it had actually been sitting there as I got horrendous food poisoning that evening.
