AIBU to be upset my best friend hasn’t wished me happy birthday

Today is my birthday, not a special one but it’s still my birthday. After the Easter hols we had a bit of a falling out because for one reason and another we haven’t managed to be able to meet up. I told her that it doesn’t always after to be all on me to arrange to meet up! Since then we have messaged a couple of times, including, on her birthday when first thing in the morning before work, I messaged her wishing many happy returns for the day!

I appreciate...first world problems and I’m probably being a bit selfish to be upset, but I’ve always been there for her and I just feel as though a quick happy birthday wouldn’t have gone amiss!

What does everyone think? Am I just being selfish to be upset?

YANBU to be upset.
I once spent my birthday evening crying to DH because 3 friends forgot my birthday -even though we had all had lunch a week earlier and I’d said I was going out for dinner in a weeks time for my birthday! I hope you had a good birthday apart from not getting birthday wishes from this friend

Erm, if it was me, please be reassured that my forgetfulness has no bearing on how much I care for you as a friend, it is just that I cannot remember birthdays no matter how much I try.

@Hardertobreathe thankyou, you know what I’ve had a lovely day! This friend had upset me far too many times to let it affect me any more...including on her wedding day when she was drunk and laid into me about my boyfriend, knowing I was the only person there whose partner hadn’t been invited! That was after I’d delivered a speech in front of everyone which she made other friends pre approve before I read it out!!

@KarmaNoMore bless you, I looked back at my Facebook memories from last year! She’d put together a pic collage of a few of out best pictures together from nights out! I honestly think it’s deliberately to upset me if I’m honest!!
