Been having a clear out and instead of trying to find a charity shop that wasn't overloaded with donations I put a box on the front saying 'free stuff - help yourself - please leave the box'.

I've heard a few people have a rummage and take bits throughout the day.

Just had a guy knock on to ask if he could have a look at whatever else I was giving away, that he'd put everything else in his car, whilst looking around me into my house. (The fellow offered to take my new bike that I keep in the hall off my hands, so kind, not)

I know this isn't a Mexican house level CF... And I am glad it's gone to save me the hassle... But knocking on?!?! I'm not the most socially clued up, but surely this is CF/BU?

It does seems a bit odd, surely you put everything outside already?

Of course it was cheeky! I wouldn't want him anywhere near my house. What made him think you were throwing away more stuff?

Also, I sometimes do the same - put free things outside my house. I do it this way mainly to avoid having to answer the door and deal with people!

I put a swing on a local freecycle site. Woman who came asked if she could have climbing frame as well. Erm. No.

I find that giving things away tends to bring out the worst in people.

Cf - but think of his poor wife when he walks in with all your old junk, no doubt with some get rich quick scheme for flogging it on e-bay!

I had been adding stuff to it as I worked through the house clearing stuff out, packing for impending house move, but hadn't added for a while so he'd either been creepy, watching me. Or was just a CF.
