lighthearted : What is this trend of having books of chanel, dior, etc with oil diffusers and candles all about?

Ive seen it all over Instagram in various forms, i saw the best/worst ever today, someone spray painted some old text books silver and wrote Chanel and Dior on them 😂.... is nothing sacred?

There are of course books you can buy with text and pictures but the majority of these “decorative books” are hallow box like things formed to look like books. Home accessory stores sell them.
I don’t get it personally but my house will never be accused of being insta worthy

It's a ridiculous style isn't it! Everyone on Instagram seems to have the same limited boring taste and all copy each other.

There was a thread about this a while ago. Yes, you can buy completely blank books that just have the name of a fashion house on the spine, purely for show. They weren't cheap and lots of posters wondered why you wouldn't just buy some coffee table books about the brands instead. Perhaps the real books' spines aren't as photogenic as the fake ones? They're a status symbol for some people but surely amongst that type of person they recognise they're fake books but are still impressed?
