18 mo hair cut

My little boy has beautiful shoulder length blonde hair. It is fine and curls slightly at the ends. A few people have asked when I'm going to cut his hair. I don't want too. His hair is lovely and he looks free and cute. However, my partner also thinks it should be cut. So AIBU to keep it long. We both are his parents after all.

I feel you @Wtfsoangry . My 20 month olds hair sounds just like your little boys. Gorgeous ringlets around his neck that I cannot bring myself to cut just yet. Constant questions from others about his first hair cut though.

I'm going to just keep it long until it looks too messy or as if it is bothering him.

My two year old DS has thick dark brown shoulder length hair. He has had it trimmed twice as it was growing very... mullety at one point and his dad wanted it evened out.

We get so many comments about when I'm getting him a "proper hair cut" I just reply with "I have no interest in cutting in his hair" or "it's funny how people get so hung up on DS's hair but never asked me about cutting DD's hair at the same age" with DD i let her have her hair cut when she asked for a hair cut (aged about three) I'm happy to do the same with DS, but won't be forcing him into a barbers chair until he expresses the interest himself.

It's up to you both as parents of course but I tend to think that keeping the hair longer is a default and the cutting should be agreed to by both parties. I assume you keep it clean, brushed and neat so there's no drip feed of "it's mates and dirty so knots need cutting out of it"
