To have forgotten what a family day out actually looks like?

Went to a child-centred attraction today, looking forward to some quality time with DC, fresh air, running about, etc. I'd forgotten about the queues, the crowds, the screaming babies, the overtired toddlers, the secretly destructive older children (breaking branches off trees etc), the manky loos, the overpriced ice-creams...

I'm thinking a walk on a trail somewhere and a sandwich is bliss in comparison! I can't believe I'd forgotten the gritty realities of a family day out. Am I the only one?

I'm dreading it. But I guess I'm going to have to face one day this week!

We seem to have gone from having family days out tothe kids being too cool to go anywhere with us in the space of a pandemic. I will happily offer my services to take anyones small child to a petting zoo no matter how manky the toilets are.

I love them but I’ve quietly absorbed beautiful countryside for long enough Grin

Give me soft play, theme parks and swimming pools!

Two here would love the petting zoo. When?

@WineAcademy @Riapia perhaps I should hire a mini bus and do a group outing 🤔

We went to soft play and it was amazing to see the joy on my DDs face at something that wasn’t a field or the same boring park, so nice to see her joining in with other children. I never thought I’d be pleased to go to soft play!

I was so happy to be at soft play 🤣🤣 never thought that would happen. Have a day out planned for Monday and a couple more things including swimming. I’m quite excited but the reality may not be quite so amazing as DC 1 and 2 are going through a bickering phase. Well I hope it’s a phase. We will see.
