to think yawing doesn't mean you are tired?

I do it sometimes when I am not tired at all.
~And the more I think about it, the more I yawn.

It's like a mind fuck, once you start you just can't stop. I'd rather have bag of Pringles tbh.

no, I found when I yawn it is like a spasm, I never do it when I am actually tired.
If I yawn, I do another, and another.....

Now I'm yawning Grin Yawning does, or is because of, many things. I get stuck in a yawning loop when I'm very anxious.

My husband yawns when he starts feeling car sick.... I'm not sure why but when I see him start yawning as a passenger I start doing my best to distract him !

When I do it, it means I'm lacking mental stimulation. It CAN mean I'm tired, but if I start yawning during the day I can usually stop it by going for a brisk walk and keeping myself busy.

I yawn when I'm cold. Doesn't bastard warm me up so I have no idea why it happens.

I go through yawning spasms throughout the day sometimes. A 20 minute period when I yawn at least once or twice per minute. Huge yawns too, like I'm gasping for Oxygen to my brain or somewhere Hmm Then it stops as quickly as it started.
I don't get it every day, but I do think it's connected to periods when I sleep too late/wake too early for a few days..

We're very suggestible.
Just the word makes us do it, and yawn in a group of people and watch them follow suit.

I once read its a result of breathing slowly - tiredness, boredom, concentration etc - and it's the body's way of catching up with breathing

I could be wrong though

I think I read it's a fast way of taking in oxygen when it needs a bit of a boost.

It's a sign that you're not breathing deeply enough. I normally find myself yawning after a brisk walk or after I've done loads of running around, your body is telling you to stop and take some deep breaths. And when one person yawns the knock-on effect on others is similar, their body sending signals that they could do with a deep breath as well.

My ‘warning signs’ with car sickness are yawning and hiccups. It’s only ever in the car - if I feel sick in a different context I don’t yawn!

I yawn excessively when I drive my teenage DD anywhere. It’s so bizarre.
