Should I cancel my Covid jab?

(I'm currently on hold with 119)

Have my Covid jab booked for this afternoon but I'm currently struggling with an infected tooth and feel rubbish. On a second lot of antibiotics.

I don't think antibiotics affect the Covid jab but I'm not sure if I should go ahead with it. I don't want to turn up just to be turned away because I'm unwell as its a wasted appointment!

Any ideas for the best thing to do? Thank you.

I'd cancel it and rebook it. You're feeling rubbish right now and if you have an immune response to it then you're going to feel flu-like for a day or two which is going to make you feel even more rubbish. I would also be concerned that a vaccine response of fever, chills, etc might mask symptoms of your infection getting worse.

Obviously ignore all of this if you get through to a human on the helpline and they give you different advice.

From a scientific point of view you should be fine, it's only recommended not to have the jab if you are on antibiotics for a severe issue (which it sounds like you don't have, despite how unpleasant it undoubtedly is).

So I don't think you will be turned away. It's your call though, if you feel awful already then you might not want to go.

Thanks - they advised me to cancel it too for the same reason. Bloody annoying because I really want to get it done!
