To ask how to the most of first paediatric appointment - ASD diagnosis

I'm sorry to post here, I didn't get any responses on SN chat.

My toddler 2.5 has very delayed speech, and has shown other red flags for autism. We've been seeing a SALT privately, but it has been a battle to get him seen by a medical professional. He has his first paediatric appointment in mid June - aside from describing his behaviour & talking about our concerns - has anyone got any advice for the sort of support we should be seeking? Or referrals we should push for? Everyone tells us that early intervention is vital and yet trying to make this happen feels virtually impossible.

We would pay privately for additional therapy - but we still feel very much in the dark and feel that this appointment is an important opportunity for us to access support and we want to make the most of it.

This appointment will mainly be a history taking session where they will go through everything in his life so far. They will hopefully refer for ASC assessment following it.

Have to admit though, early intervention is a myth in our area.
