Cut out of family photo

shiny888 · 25/05/2021 20:06

So we had a family gathering on the weekend for SIL birthday surprise.

My DPs nephew put a picture on his insta story that was taken of the whole group on a line and he has cut myself, DD and DP off of the photo.

Would you be upset?
I feel a little hurt!

Actually I feel a lot hurt.

Abit of a back story his mum has never particularly liked me and when I gave her a taste of her own medicine after being spoken to like shit for 2 years I said hi to her funnily. She excluded all of us from family gatherings.

Things have been better since. But now this.
I honestly feel so upset. AIBU for feeling this way?

Is it a slight or just the only way to fit it in?

Babbly · 25/05/2021 20:12

Instagram works for square photos, you're not in his nuclear family, I wouldn't read into it.

Ducksurprise · 25/05/2021 20:13

How old is dd and dn?

Lockheart · 25/05/2021 20:14

This isn't a hill I'd be prepared to die on, but you do you.

It's just an Instagram post.

Ughmaybenot · 25/05/2021 20:14

I couldn’t get worked up about this.

Thesearmsofmine · 25/05/2021 20:14

I wouldn’t worry, I never share photos of other people unless I know they would happy for me too. Maybe he didn’t think you would like it?

CoffeeCakey · 25/05/2021 20:15

It was just the layout

Ginger1982 · 25/05/2021 20:15

This would upset me. Different if he had just put a picture of his family up but go pick one everyone was in and deliberately cut you off seems a bit nasty.

shiny888 · 25/05/2021 20:16

Those saying it's about the lay out it's not because it's on his story and it is a clear cut out of us and there's others in the photo who are even less of family to him than us.

Who’s in the pic, just his immediate family? Insta only takes certain sizes olus no one posts pics of extended family with out permission, well not unless they are a twat.

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 25/05/2021 20:17

I wouldn't be particularly upset... Its only instagram🙄. Another way of seeing it? Perhaps he purposely didn't include you as he hadn't asked your permission and just decided to go ahead and post sans you and your bit of the family

shiny888 · 25/05/2021 20:18

@Bluntness100 my DP, me our DD. His grandad and grandads new GF. My DP twin and his son and gf and his sister sisters BF and his mum and dad and we are the only ones cropped out

This May be because I’m rubbish at technology, but Insta always makes me cut bits off my pictures, as the pics I take are rectangular and the platform wants square ones, so he may not have maliciously cut you out. Even if he intentionally cut you out, is it really the end of the world? It’s just 1 picture?

3scape · 25/05/2021 20:29

Are you someone who shares many photos? Do you think he thought you might not appreciate publishing a picture of you and your child?

WonderEwe25 · 25/05/2021 20:29

I get where you’re coming from OP. Whether deliberate or not it does hurt to be cut out of a photo when it doesn’t seem to be anyone else but you. I’d say YANBU but I expect I’m in the minority.
